But – he who is forewarned is armed. We decided to find out how and how to wash clothes if the detergent was not at hand.
DIY washing gel
Ingredients: laundry soap – 100 g, soda ash – 100 g, water – 2 liters.
Method of preparation: Grate the soap and pour some of the water into a metal bowl. Important: do not use utensils in which you cook food. Place the pot on low heat and let the soap dissolve completely. Add remaining water and mix well. Add soda ash, stir until completely dissolved. Make sure that there are no lumps left, otherwise white stains will remain on the clothes after washing. Boil the gel for a couple of minutes, stirring continuously. Then cover and leave for XNUMX hours.
How to use: just like regular laundry gel.
Mustard Laundry Detergent
Ingredients: mustard powder – 15 g, water – 1 liter.
Method of preparation: for 1 liter of hot water, take 15 g of mustard, stir well, leave for 2 hours, then carefully drain the liquid without sediment. The detergent is ready.
How to use: The product is suitable for hand washing. Add the prepared liquid to a bowl of hot water, wash and then rinse well in clean water. By the way, mustard powder is perfect for washing dishes and copes with fat as well as detergents.

Liquid soap from soap root for washing
Ingredients: soap root (sold in pharmacies or on the market) – 50 g, boiling water – 0,5 l.
Method of preparation: break the soap root with a hammer into small particles, pour boiling water over and leave to infuse for a day. During this time, the solution must be thoroughly mixed several times. After 24 hours, the solution must be boiled over low heat for 1 hour. Cool and strain through cheesecloth.
How to use: pour soap into a bowl of hot water, beat until foam appears. Important: the soap root solution must be used immediately, it cannot be stored for a long time.
Soap nuts for automatic and hand wash
Ingredients: soap nuts from India.
Method of preparation: buy soap nuts online, they are completely ready to eat. It is a natural herbal remedy. The hypoallergenic soap nut is odorless, perfect for washing baby clothes, as well as for washing dishes and cleaning rooms.
How to use: for hand wash put 4–6 nuts in a canvas bag, dip in a bowl of warm water, beat until foam forms. For automatic washing – put 10-15 nuts in a canvas bag, load together with dirty laundry into the washing machine. Soap nuts can be reused as long as they foam when soaked.

At the last rinse, add ammonia to the water at the rate of 1 tsp. for 1 liter of water – this method is great for woolen clothes. And it is better to rinse silk clothes in vinegar water, adding 1 tbsp. l. vinegar in 1 liter of water.
