PSYchology

A good person will not be called an egoist. What is true in the opposite direction: an egoist will not be called good. An altruist is another matter.

The real story: someone Zel Kravinsky gives away his considerable fortune, $ 45 million, to the poor. But he feels that this is not enough. He decides to donate his kidney. Is his behavior good? Perhaps, yes — for the one who receives this kidney. And what about his four children, who will receive a father whose health is now in question? Meanwhile, Kravinsky does not stop. After all, he still has a second kidney, a cornea, lungs and many useful organs that can be useful to others. He is, of course, an altruist. And it seems to be great. But to follow his example is scary. So should we overcome our fear and make sacrifices? «Not!» Peter Schwartz, a writer and honorary member of the California Ayn Rand Institute, replies firmly. He not only argues that everyone has the right to protect their own interests, but also shows why this will be good for society as a whole.
