In China, health is becoming more and more democratic

Although the wealthy Chinese are healthier than the poor, this difference is narrowing, while the health of the wealthy people in the United States is more and more different from that of the poor, informs the Eurek Alert website.

Research conducted in the USA has long shown that the wealthier are usually healthier than the poorer, and the difference increases with age. This has to do with access to medical care, good nutrition and other factors that affect health.

Last, scientists from NC State and the University of Chicago analyzed data on more than 7000 adults in China observed over a 13-year period. They found that the health gap between high and low socioeconomic status decreased significantly over the course of their lives (also taking into account the differences between generations).

This is likely due to social and economic changes over the past 20 years, including changes in health behavior and access to health care. (PAP)
