Do you want to lose a few unnecessary kilograms, but also do not want to suspend your social life for the time being? You do not know what dish you can afford in the restaurant? Do you have to limit yourself to a salad or maybe eat something more substantial? We will try to help you a little bit.

Basic rules

In every restaurant, the basic rule should be to choose dishes rich in vegetables. A protein product (meat, fish, legumes) and starch (groats, rice, pasta, potatoes) should be only a small addition. Avoid:

  • baskets,
  • fatty sauces,
  • fried dishes, 
  • burnt dishes,
  • sprinkling the dishes with cheese,
  • dishes dripping with fat,
  • dips with cream or mayonnaise,
  • fatty meats such as pork knuckle, neck, shoulder,
  • overcooked: pasta, rice, potatoes.

Also remember that you came to have a good time, not to fill your stomach to the brim. Therefore, eat your meals slowly, enjoy the taste and the company. If you choose a dish that is slightly more caloric than a salad or just vegetables, make sure that the portion of the dish is not too large. The smaller it is, the more it will make you focus on it and eat slowly.

Sweets and alcohol

If you pay attention to the nutritional and energy value of dishes, you should refrain from dessert. Remember that it is rich in sugar, fat and often many food dyes. Therefore, eating dessert will do little good to your body. As for alcohol, avoid beer or vodka, but you can afford a glass of wine once a week.

Cash

In Poland, practically in every city you can find milk bars where you can buy a nutritious meal for little money. Apart from dumplings and pancakes, their menu also includes nutritious vegetable soups. You can also order a piece of fish with a portion of cooked vegetables, salads and groats or potatoes. However, it is worth choosing fish or poultry without breading, and soup without cream (possibly with milk).

If it’s a fast food restaurant, it’s best to choose a salad or tortilla with vegetables and chicken. If you can’t resist fries, it is best that they are baked in the oven and served without salt. It is a surefire way in case of difficulty accessing other premises with more nutritious food, but remember that it is not the best choice. If you use fast-food bars a lot, your slim figure will move further and further away.

Italian restaurant

If you’re craving pasta, check to see if there are any whole grain pasta on the menu. If not, make sure your pasta is cooked al dente. Instead of choosing greasy meat sauces with it, go for noodles with vegetables. Remember to ask the waiter not to sprinkle your pasta with extra cheese.

When you go for a pizza, choose the toppings yourself. Choose the one with the thinnest dough, spread with tomato sauce and lots of vegetables. Skip the bacon, sausage, and salami. Instead, choose chicken pieces or add no meat at all. Do not reach for garlic bread, lasagne, mayonnaise or cream sauces, thick crust, large amounts of cheese or calzone pizzas.

Chinese restaurant

Here, be sure to pay attention to dishes with the adjective “crispy”. Most often it means dough dough and deep frying. Unfortunately, the dough absorbs fat, which makes these dishes rich in fat. Also, all spring rolls, fried noodles and rice are floating in the fat. This means both a large supply of calories and difficult digestion. Such dishes are difficult to digest. Better to choose nutritious soup, boiled rice or pasta with a portion of cooked vegetables. The menu also includes boiled fish and chop suey chicken, which are also a good idea for a nutritious and healthy meal.
