Men living in a civil marriage do much more housework than their husbands. Moreover, the higher the income of the latter, the less they help their spouses.
Well, women in any case bear on their shoulders most of the household duties. These are the results of a survey by the Center for Gender Studies (USA), in which 17 men and women of 636 nationalities participated. Sociologist Jennifer Gerteisen Marks of the University of North Carolina believes that this attitude to domestic affairs is due to the evolutionary roles assigned to a man and a woman, which we often unconsciously follow when entering into a formal marriage. In a free union, the roles of partners are mixed, so social attitudes do not work so rigidly.
