Nearly 80% of all electricity in the world is produced by fossil fuels – oil, gas and coal. However, these resources do not last forever. The predictions are that oil and gas will run out within the next 40-50 years. Coal will last until the 2090s. Because of this, humanity may lose electricity – it simply will not be produced from anything.
The solution may be the sun and the wind. Renewable energy sources now produce about 20% of the world’s electricity. The states plan to increase this figure to at least 32% in 2030. For example, the European Union has a clear goal: to halve the use of fossil fuels over the next 10 years. In addition, in May 2021, 11 EU countries proposed to completely ban gas, oil and coal from the design of a new, pan-European energy infrastructure.
