Seasonal colds can effectively make life difficult. Their symptoms make it difficult to carry out everyday activities at home and at work, often keeping us in bed for several days. In these situations, a cold remedy can help. Imupret is an over-the-counter cold remedy. Read what Imupret is and how it is used.

Imupret – characteristics

Imupret is a medicine that alleviates the symptoms of a cold. It is available in two forms: as oral drops and as sugar-coated tablets. Its formula is based on a special combination of plant ingredients: horsetail herb, yarrow herb, marshmallow root, walnut leaf, dandelion herb, oak bark and chamomile flower. The latter ingredient dominates the scent note of Imupret in drops, which is characterized by a slightly cloudy consistency and a yellow-brown color.

The herbal formula of Imupret helps fight infections with antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Imupret is also often used to shrink the third almond (one of the leading causes of frequent infections in children). It can also be used prophylactically as a preparation that stimulates and strengthens the natural immunity.

Imupret – ethanol content

Imupret in drops contains approx. 19% (v / v) of ethanol (alcohol), which means that 25 drops of the product contain approximately 210 mg of ethanol, which is equal to 5 ml of beer or 2 ml of wine. A single dose – 10 drops used in children aged 2 to 5 years contains approx. 80 mg of ethanol, a single dose – 15 drops used in children aged 6 to 11 years contains approx. 120 mg of ethanol.

Imupret – dosage

Imupret drops can be used in patients over 2 years of age, tablets – over 6 years of age. In severe cold symptoms, the dose of Imupret depends on the patient’s age:

  1. children from 2 to 5 years old – 10 drops once (50 a day),
  2. children from 5 to 11 years old – 15 drops or one tablet at a time (75 drops or 5 tablets a day),
  3. patients over 12 years of age – 25 drops or 2 tablets once (125 drops or 10 tablets a day).

The daily dose is therefore a single dose applied five times. After a few days, when symptoms improve, the dose can be reduced by administering a single dose three times a day. If the symptoms persist for more than 3 days despite the use of Imupret, a consultation with a doctor is necessary.

If side effects occur, discontinue use of the drug and consult your physician.

Due to the ethanol content, Imupret should not be used by pregnant and breastfeeding women and people suffering from alcoholism. According to the manufacturer’s information, the preparation does not have a significant effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.
