Many patients, despite the assurances of doctors that they are already cured, are convinced that they are still struggling with this disease.
“Since the disease I can’t recover, although many months have passed”, “Bacteria must have been hidden somewhere in the body and tests do not detect them, and I get sick”, “My joints hurt again, I’m sure that Lyme disease is back” – this doctors hear often. Doctors call this condition pseudo-Lyme disease, or just imaginary Lyme disease. Both sides, the doctor and the patient, who is feeling dismissed, try to convince each other of their arguments. And specialists blame it … the Lyme disease fashion and assure that Lyme disease could not “come back” or go into the latent phase “.
They didn’t heal me!
After antibiotic treatment, every patient would like to hear that there is no trace of Lyme disease. But unfortunately, although the patient is considered cured, some “trace” very often remains. For example, in the form of non-obvious results that are never 100 percent. unambiguous. Or in the form of bothersome symptoms that are the result of the “activity” of the spirochetes or the antibiotic treatment itself – and these are the same health problems (especially intestinal) as with any other long-term antibiotic treatment.
Lyme disease is back?
What do joint pain and other ailments such as chronic fatigue or gastric problems mean? These may be symptoms of completely different diseases which, for example, appear with age. Or they would have appeared, even if the infected tick had never been bitten by the infected tick.
In addition, even months or years after the end of treatment, some symptoms may arise, as a weakened organ, such as the intestine, may become unwell. But it can also be weakened by bad habits and lifestyle, such as smoking, alcohol, lack of sleep or civilization diseases such as hypertension or atherosclerosis. According to many specialists, it is pseudo-Lyme disease. It should also be remembered that there are “tick-borne disease specialists” who, taking advantage of patients’ ignorance and fear for their health, trick them into ineffective therapies.
The problem of too frequent diagnosis of Lyme disease was noticed twenty years ago. Several infectious disease treatment centers investigating the disease have looked at the results of the studies and have shown that some people diagnosed with it actually suffer from other conditions that have similar symptoms.

Before you find out that Lyme disease is not over …
Doctors are talking more and more often about the “overdiagnosis” of Lyme disease – we are particularly sensitive to this disease, because we have ticks, so joint pain, concentration disorders, and irritability are enough to suspect Lyme disease. When prescribing an antibiotic, a doctor is often not entirely sure if it is this disease, but aware of the imperfections of the tests, he prescribes an antibiotic.
The patient comes out with the idea that he has Lyme disease, not “possibly he has”. Whatever happens to this patient afterwards is blamed on Lyme disease. It turned out that some patients with previously diagnosed Lyme disease actually suffer, inter alia, from for ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, and even a brain tumor.
If symptoms that suggest Lyme disease persist, it’s best to get tested for these and other conditions. Absolutely those that we can have in our genes.
The fragment comes from the book “Lyme disease”.
