Botanical characteristics of hiccups

Ikotnik is a biennial herbaceous plant of the cruciferous family. Such a short-haired plant grows up to 60 cm in height. It has a short taproot and an upright branched stem with alternate lanceolate leaves. Small white flowers with four petals are collected in dense racemes, which elongate when small seeds ripen.

The fruits are presented in the form of oval pods with densely pubescent star-shaped hairs. The pods contain flat, tuberculate brown seeds. Hiccup blooms from late May to September. Fruit ripening occurs at the end of August. This plant prefers loamy and sandy soils. You can find both dense thickets and scattered settlements in wastelands, meadows and edges, as well as along roads.

Useful properties of hiccups

It has been proven that the tops of such a plant as hiccups are incredibly rich in protein and various trace elements, in particular magnesium, phosphorus and sodium. Hiccup seeds contain a unique fatty oil. Such a plant has a strong hypotensive effect. It also exhibits antibacterial properties. In addition, it has been proven that hiccups contain the glycoside sinigrin and alkaloids. Often, hiccups are prescribed as a sedative. It should be noted that it also has an astringent effect.

The use of hiccups

Hiccup is an effective remedy for choking, nervous hiccups, bronchial asthma, postpartum hemorrhage, coughing, as well as headaches and stomach diseases. A healing infusion of white flowers is indicated for the treatment of diarrhea in adults and childhood diarrhea.

To strengthen the nervous system and achieve a general strengthening effect, baths from a decoction of hiccups are prescribed. With a very sharp painful weight loss, such a plant is simply irreplaceable. A decoction of hiccups can also be used to wash contaminated wounds. In female diseases, a decoction is often prescribed inside.

An infusion of seeds helps with dyspepsia in young children. To prepare an infusion of flowers, pour 2 tablespoons of raw materials with a glass of boiling water, then leave the mixture for 2-3 hours and strain. Such a useful tool should be taken 1 tablespoon up to six times a day.

Hiccup gray

Hiccup gray is a biennial plant with small flowers and lanceolate leaves. Hiccup inflorescences are collected in graceful apical brushes. This plant blooms in the warm season, from May to September. In bivalve pods are oval small seeds of a brown or grayish hue.

This type of hiccup bears fruit from July until the first frost. The plant prefers open places in steppe meadows, fields, along roads and thinned out forest areas. Gray hiccup contains alkaloids, coumarins, sinigrin glycoside, flavonoids, tannins, as well as organic acids and ascorbic acid. Such a plant is used as an excellent sedative, for pain and cramps, for washing ulcers and wounds.

Contraindications to the use of hiccups

Such a plant has practically no contraindications, except for individual intolerance. It should also be noted that in case of hypotension and pregnancy, hiccups should be used with caution.
