IKEA has come up with robot furniture for small apartments

This is a 4-in-1 transformer: a bed, a sofa, a wardrobe and a desk.

People go to cities – this is the trend of recent decades. And cities, unfortunately, are not rubber. Therefore, there are more and more small apartments – studios, tiny odnushki. For one person, it seems to be nothing, but it is difficult to fit everything that is needed for a comfortable life into 20 square meters. IKEA undertook to solve this problem – and came up with a whole transforming kit that can replace a bed, a sofa, a wardrobe, and a workplace.

With a slight movement of the hand, the bed turns … into a sofa, behind which there is a wardrobe. And there is also a pull-out table on which you can put your laptop. Or a dinner plate. The movement is easy, we are not joking. It is assumed that all this happiness can be controlled from the touchpad. All this was invented together with the ORI company, which specializes in the creation of robotic furniture.

The multifunctional furniture robot was named ROGNAN, after a small Swedish village.

“It changes according to your needs: from sleeping to getting dressed, from receiving guests to work and much more,” says IKEA.

It is assumed that the ROGNAN robot will be able to save about eight to nine square meters of floor space. A lot, you must agree, when it comes to a studio in 18-20 squares.

So far, the idea is at the development stage, and they plan to bring it to life next year.

Interview

Would you buy such a set?

  • Sure! The place is really great savings.

  • For a nursery – ideal. No more unmade beds.

  • It seems to me that this is not a very reliable design.

  • How to collect it? At IKEA, after all, all the furniture is “assemble yourself”.

  • No, I don’t need to save space.
