If you eat raw red beans
You cannot eat red beans raw – you must cook them, and before soaking, you must. The composition of raw beans contains toxic components – fazin and phaseolunatin. If they enter the human body, it can result in severe poisoning with all the consequences (deterioration of health, diarrhea, vomiting).
Beans become safe if they are pre-soaked (6 hours or more) and boiled until tender, filling with fresh water. In the process of heat treatment, toxic substances are destroyed. Another plus of soaking is the dissolution of oligosaccharides, which are present in excess in raw beans. These are complex sugars that are difficult to digest and cause strong gas formation.
If a child swallows raw beans, don’t panic right away. The child should be given water to drink and observe his condition for 2-3 hours. If it deteriorates sharply, call an ambulance.
