The human body often sends him various signals that something disturbing is happening with his health. It turns out that if someone notices a change in their body odor, it may indicate problems with various internal organs.
- An unpleasant body odor or bad breath does not always mean a lack of hygiene
- These can clearly be signals that our body sends out to let us know that we are sick with something serious
- Diseases related to the smell of urine, sweat or odor from the mouth include, among others cancer, liver failure, diabetes and mycosis
- You can find more such stories on the TvoiLokony home page
Ulcers and reflux
If the bad breath is accompanied by hiccups, heartburn, disgust in the mouth or stomach pain, this could be a sign of a stomach ulcer, duodenal ulcer, or gastroesophageal reflux disease. Symptoms of reflux that require prompt investigation include dysphagia, pain upon swallowing, weight loss, or bleeding from the esophagus.
Oral mycosis
Oral thrush can also be a cause of bad breath. Influence on the incidence of this disease has, inter alia, diet, certain diseases (e.g. diabetes and also AIDS) and living conditions. However, age is crucial in this case, as well as the immune system.
Kidneys
Most people with bad kidneys also have problems with stronger or weaker levels of bad breath. This applies, for example, to people with chronic renal failure, i.e. damage to this organ that lasts more than three months. Kidney problems may also be evidenced by the smell of ammonia from the mouth or sweat and the smell of stale fish in the breath.

Liver failure
The smell of raw fish from the mouth can also mean that a person is suffering from liver failure. There may be an acetone odor from the mouth which may indicate advanced hyperglycaemia.
Diabetes
The breath and urine that smells of sour apples, reminiscent of fermented fruit, is one of the symptoms of ketoacidosis, a life-threatening complication of diabetes. Ketoacidosis occurs when the peptide hormone insulin is deficient or absent, which allows cells in the body to take up blood sugar (glucose) for energy. Excessive sweating may also indicate diabetes.
Excessive sweating can also be a sign of tuberculosis, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, or acromegaly (a chronic disease associated with excessive secretion of growth hormone).
The smell of mice, gasoline and vinegar
The human body can also give off a smell known as “mousy”, and his sweat can smell like gasoline or vinegar. The first case is evidence of phenylketonuria (a disease that causes severe metabolic disturbances), the smell of gasoline is associated with advanced stages of melanoma, and the vinegar can be found in the sweat of people with schizophrenia.
