If you accidentally oversalt the broth or, moreover, the soup, which is almost ready, do not despair and pour it into the sink. There are several ways to quickly and easily fix such an oversight – you only need to choose the most suitable one.
1. Just add water
If there is enough room in the pot, you can simply add boiled or carefully filtered water to the noodle soup. As a last resort, you can simply pour the broth into a larger container.
This option will be inappropriate if the soup is not thick enough anyway. Adding new ingredients in this case is not a good idea.
2. Rice to help
If you can add a little rice to the soup you are cooking, feel free to do it. Such an ingredient will draw out excess salt from the broth and at the same time make the dish more rich.
However, if rice is completely inappropriate in the soup that you are preparing, this does not mean that you cannot use it. It is simple to save a salted dish: take clean cheesecloth, wrap rice in it, tie a bag tightly, fasten it to a thread and dip it into broth. Cook the soup with the rice until you feel that the cereal has absorbed the excess salt. Then remove the bag by pulling on the string and discard the rice.
If you don’t want to put cheesecloth in the dish, there is another option – use bags of instant rice porridge. It is enough to simply dip them into the soup, and after a while catch them with a ladle and throw them away. This option is suitable even if you have oversalted the dish and do not know how you can quickly fix the situation.
3. Magic potato
If you can add potatoes to your soup, you can use this method to remove excess salt as well. It happens that a person notices a problem some time after adding all the ingredients, which means that it is too late to put raw potatoes. In this case, it is enough to put a large raw potato in a saucepan, and after a while remove it and discard it.
You should not choose this method if there should be no potatoes in the soup at all. Even if you discard the vegetable after boiling, the broth will still not be the same.
4. Just bread
An interesting option is to use stale bread instead of potatoes or rice. It can be wrapped in cheesecloth and cooked in soup for a few minutes. Be careful: if the bread gets wet, some of the crumbs will remain in the broth. However, in some cases, this can not only not damage the soup, but even significantly improve it, make it more rich, satisfying and tasty.
5. Soup with egg
A very simple way to quickly remove salt is to add a raw egg to the water. You can stir the soup thoroughly and leave the new ingredient in there, or spoon out the egg white and yolk with a spoon when the egg is curdled.
