Sometimes it is difficult to understand that the washing machine turns the drum in one direction. Usually, after loading the laundry and setting the program, you go on business, and do not stay to enjoy the washing process. How to determine that the drum is rotating incorrectly, and can I fix it myself? Let’s figure it out together.
Why does the washer spin the drum in one direction?
The normal operation of the equipment is incorporated in the programmer. To better rid the laundry of dirt, the machine rotates the drum first in one direction, then, after a pause, in the other. Sometimes the problem does not cause inconvenience, except for poorly washed things, and the washing machine continues to work in the usual rhythm.
In other situations, the machine may stop and display an error code. This happens in electronically controlled AGR, where the controller is responsible for the operation of all nodes. The system notices the failure and the module signals to stop working. Thanks to the error, the user can understand where to look for the cause of the problem.
If the drum does not rotate correctly, there are two possible malfunctions:
- Control board failure. Perhaps the contacts or tracks that are responsible for the operation of the motor are burnt. Therefore, it only runs in one direction. In such cases, diagnostics and repair of the element is necessary.
- Engine electrical circuit damaged. Again, the motor cannot get a signal to run properly. Engine circuit inspection required.
If you suspect such a malfunction, observe the progress of the wash. After drawing water, look through the glass hatch to make sure that the rotation is not correct. In vertical washers, you can determine the malfunction as follows:
- Listen for the sound of rotation. Between them there should be an interval of 1-2 seconds.
- Look at the pulley. To do this, disconnect the equipment from the network. Unscrew the screws around the perimeter and remove the side panel. Start the machine. If the pulley spins only to the right or to the left, the malfunction is obvious.
Found a problem? It’s time to start solving the problem.
Control Module Inspection
You can visually check the board at the time of burns and melted elements yourself. But it is better to leave the repair to the master, because professional knowledge will be needed for accurate diagnosis and restoration of the electronic part.
Here’s how to withdraw the fee:
- Pull the CMA plug out of the socket.
- Remove the powder dispenser by pressing the latch in the center.
- Unscrew the bolts securing the panel around the perimeter.
- Press the latches with a screwdriver and remove the panel from the case.
- The board can be hidden in a small box or immediately behind the plastic protection.
- Photograph all connections.
- Turn off the chips one by one, inspecting all contacts for integrity.
- Check the surface of the element for black burn marks.
In top-loading machines, it is enough to unscrew the two rear screws to dismantle the panel with the unit, or pry off the mounting latches.
How to diagnose with a multimeter, says the user Master – Life on the video:
If no visual disturbances are found, reassemble the machine and contact a professional. Only he will determine whether the module can be repaired or better replaced.
Engine Wiring Check
The collector motor is located under the CMA tank behind the rear wall. In Samsung models, the motor is inverter and is attached directly to the tank. In any case, you will have to remove the back panel.
Progress:
- After disconnecting the machine from the mains, move the cabinet away from the wall. You must be free to approach the back.
- Now unscrew the screws around the perimeter, lift the panel and put it aside.
- Inspect the wiring leading to the motor.
- Reconnect the engine chips. Perhaps as a result of strong vibrations, the fasteners have weakened.
If burnt parts and damage are found, it is necessary to replace the wire, or better, the entire cable from the module to the motor. Remember that electrical work is difficult and dangerous. Therefore, if you do not immediately find the cause of the problem, call a specialist.
Even if the equipment does not give an error code, but you notice a failure in the usual operation of the washer, do not delay the inspection and repair. Sometimes it’s better to fix the problem right away, because replacing major parts is expensive, not to mention buying a new car. Be carefull!
