If the barley is not cooked

It happens that the barley remains tough even after an hour of cooking. Especially if the pearl barley was not soaked (and it must be soaked) or soaked carelessly – that is, not enough. If the pearl barley is not cooked, you should try to cook it. If the water in which the barley was cooked remains, then you need to cook right in it: put the pan on the stove, turn on a quiet, but sufficient fire for boiling, and wait 10-30 minutes after boiling the water, regularly taking a couple of grains for a sample with a spoon. That’s the whole way. And if there is no water, then you should add fresh cold water or any broth (also cold).
