If muesli bars – it’s only home-made (copyright – Dietetics – Articles |

In the previous article (Vitanella muesli bar, caloric like chocolate), I assessed the Vitanella muesli bar. Its composition is not impressive, so as an alternative I would like to show you that you can make great bars without the use of sugar, glucose-fructose syrup and other unnecessary additives. Both are very nutty, but the taste is completely different, so they can be prepared interchangeably, without fear that they will get bored and we will have to use a range of bars.

A bar with peanuts and almonds

  • 100 g of oat flakes,
  • 100 g of peanuts,
  • 1 banana
  • 6 dates
  • 50 g almonds
  • 100 ml of milk

Preparation: Soak dates for about 20-30 minutes in warm milk. Meanwhile, crush the peanuts into pieces and crush the almonds as well. Throw in oatmeal. Soaked dates (with milk) and banana, blend. Mix the liquid ingredients with the dry ingredients. Put on a baking tray and bake at 180 * C for 25-35 minutes (depending on the oven and its prior heating). My plate measures 25 × 25 and it came out of 20 pieces, 25g each.

A bar with cashews and pumpkin seeds

  • 160 g of mountain oatmeal
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds
  • 3 tablespoons of linseed
  • 8 pieces of dates (30 ml of hot water for pouring)
  • 40 g cashews
  • 3 tablespoons of chia seeds

Preparation: Soak dates for about 20-30 minutes in water. Crumble cashews into a bowl, add chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds and oatmeal to them. Blend the dates and add to the bowl with dry products. Crack the eggs into it and mix it all together. Put on a baking tray and bake at 180 * C for 25-35 minutes (depending on the oven and its prior heating). My plate measures 25 × 25 and it came out of 16 pieces, 25g each.

Which is tastier

Is the Vitanella muesli bar tastier than the homemade suggestions – but is it the finished product that delights our taste buds more? There is no universal answer to this question, because there are so many tastes as there are people. However, in my opinion, homemade muesli bars are more tasty – in addition, they have a nice, compact consistency and, unlike the Vitanella muesli bar, they do not stick or fall apart. It was a big problem for me as it was difficult to take it out of the packaging and set it up for a photo. In contrast to him, my propositions posed much more willingly 🙂

In addition, homemade bars are more economically priced, as the price is too A bar with peanuts and almonds it is about 50 cents, and for A bar with cashews and pumpkin seeds it came out about PLN 65 – so the amounts are 2-3 times lower than for the finished product. The indicated prices only take into account the cost of the products, so you should take into account the electricity consumed and the operation of the oven. We do not have to protect and advertise home-made bars with attractive packaging, and thus we also lose the costs for the packaging that must be borne by the manufacturer. However, despite this homemade candy bars are a cheaper solution.

I remind you that my suggestions provide almost 50% less calories. None of them contain glucose-fructose syrup or added sugar – in the first one, it was used as a sweetener banana and datesin the second only dates

As you can see, there are many advantages to homemade candy bars, but they also have their disadvantages. These mainly include preparation time and storage.

I have noticed the preparation time because buying a sweet snack is much faster. If you want to make the bars yourself, take into account the fact that you have to spend some time and energy on it – time for shopping (if you do not have the ingredients at hand!), Preparation time and baking time. For me, it took about 45 minutes to take photos, but usually preparation takes about 10 minutes (not including soaking dates) and 30 minutes in the oven.

In the best variant – when you have products at home or you buy them by the way, and you have what to do while baking them it will take you 10 minutes to prepare the bars.

Another aspect that should be taken into account when comparing is the durability of the product – prepared in this way The bars can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week in a tightly closed container. Compared to candy bars, which can stay on our shelves for a year, this is not a very impressive result.

Therefore:

Na plus home-made bars speak for themselves:

  • dinner,
  • taste,
  • composition,
  • consistency,
  • calorific value.

Na minus homemade bars state:

  • preparation time,
  • storage time.

Be sure to prepare and let me know what you think about them.
