The results were surprising.
In today’s program “DNA Show” with Lolita Milyavskaya, the TV presenter herself has become a guest of the program, ready to learn about her roots and genetic predispositions and diseases.
Lolita first learned that her nationality is 63% of Ashkenazi Jews and 37% of Ukrainian roots. But that’s not all. Growing up in a family of Ukrainian Jews, the singer, of course, knew about her ancestry, but how did Belarusian roots end up in her DNA? It’s a mystery even to her.
It also turned out that Ashkenazi Jews have a genetic predisposition to a large number of diseases, and 2 of them were found in Milyavskaya’s genes: phenylketonuria (severe mental retardation up to idiocy) and Jacquin’s syndrome (severe damage to the brain, liver and heart). Both diseases can be transmitted to children and strongly affect the nervous system, but they can only manifest themselves in a child if the baby’s father has the exact same predisposition.
The disease did not affect Lolita’s daughter in any way, but still the girl has been sick from childhood with Asperger’s syndrome, which is not genetically transmitted.
In the course of the study, scientists discovered that Lolita is the owner of the longevity gene and with a healthy lifestyle, she may well live up to a hundred years. But diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, the performer of the hit “On” Titanic “is not afraid. She has no predisposition to them.
