Is it possible to transform an uncomfortable, boring kitchen beyond recognition? So much so that it becomes a favorite place in the house? Designer Artur Yagubyants and the host of the “Made with taste” show on TNT Lena Usanova were able to do this. We study the details and prepare for the repair.

Elena Usanova, author and presenter:
“Sometimes you watch different repair shows, they fascinate you, but you understand that in life you will never do something like this yourself: either it is too difficult or hellishly expensive. I decided to take simple and functional ideas as a basis. “
The kitchen of the heroes of the show caused only regret. It seems light, but at the same time “heavy”, oppressive, not the smallest, but not at all spacious, two people can hardly fit in it. What can we say about beauty, the equipment had to be placed anywhere, brushes and ladles to keep in sight. In such a kitchen, you will not gather guests once again. Experts examined the premises and identified problems that require urgent solutions.
1. Dilapidated linoleum and wallpaper.
2. Uneven peeling ceiling.
3. Large air duct that attracts attention.
4. Inconvenient table, at which only one person could fit.
5. A dilapidated wooden door, above it is an old console littered with unnecessary things.
6. A large useless sofa.
Designer Artur Yagubyants:
“Looking at the kitchen of the heroes, I wanted to create a completely different room, without being attached to the old details. I decided that the interior would be modern, light, fashionable, but not boring – let’s add sea freshness and lightness to the kitchen. The highlight of the whole interior is the air bubble panel. It attracts attention and creates a relaxing mood. The colors and intensity of the bubbles can be programmed. “
For the floor, we have chosen two shades of parquet – coffee and milk. In the working area – dark dies, in the dining area – light ones. Thus, we visually divided the space and emphasized the different functionality of both zones.
We primed the walls to prevent dampness and mold. Then they used a putty for a perfectly smooth surface without cracks and irregularities. We chose paintable wallpaper. If the owners get tired of the color of their kitchen over time, the walls can be easily repainted. For niches, the choice fell on a delicate turquoise shade, and for walls – on white. This combination will make the interior light and airy, and the kitchen will seem much larger.
We installed round profiles on the stretch ceiling and cut holes along the inner contour for surface-mounted luminaires. The kitchen will now always be light.
They decided to increase the ventilation box. At first glance, this is strange. However, if performed correctly, this technique will make the structure invisible! To do this, we have built up plasterboard niches with backlighting on the sides. Bright elements draw attention, and the duct itself seems to dissolve into space due to the light color in which we painted it.
In the area of the table, a plasterboard structure was mounted, repeating the structure on the air duct, it is also backlit from an LED strip. The new table is fixed on anchors to the wall on one side, on the other side it rests on the floor.
Our door leaf is white with a matte glass insert. But the platbands are dark. This emphasis made the door a graphic design element. A chrome-colored handle with its rectangular shape emphasized the main idea of the interior – orthogonal-rectangular hi-tech. The old console was removed – the plasterboard wall was extended.
The faucet and sink are of a very extravagant and unusual color for a kitchen – black, which is in harmony with the white facades of the kitchen set. All the hinges on the doors, the headset with door closers, so even with a sharp closing there will be no loud bangs.
A fresco with an abstract pattern gave the interior a special chic and mood. We placed it under durable tempered glass. On its surface, the light began to play, making it seem to the owners that their wall is a real sea!
1. In order for the duct not to stand out, it must be made in the same color as the rest of the walls, preferably light. On or near the duct, you can install a bright element that will attract attention.
2. Should you spoil the new space with old and ugly heating pipes or a radiator? No. Sew them up in a drywall box. For proper air circulation, make a cutout in the box and cover it with a decorative screen.
3. You can visually expand the space by contrasting light and dark colors, as well as using mirror surfaces.
