Ibuprom Max – basic information and composition
Ibuprom Max to a popular pain reliever, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic drug, which you can buy over the counter in all pharmacies and in many drugstores, shops and supermarkets.
It is available in the form of round, white, sugar-coated tablets, sold in various sizes. The company US Pharmacia sp. Z oo is responsible for its production and distribution. Ibuprom Max is a stronger version of Ibuprom – it contains twice the dose of the active substance – ibuprofen.
What is the composition of Ibuprom Max? One tablet contains 400 mg of the active ingredient, i.e. ibuprofen. It is a drug from the group of so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In addition to it, a number of auxiliary substances were also used, such as:
- core composition: lactose, povidone, maize starch, talc, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica;
- shell composition: sucrose, corn starch, titanium dioxide, carnauba wax, white wax, talc, magnesium stearate.

Ibuprom Max contains lactose and sucrose. Therefore, if you are intolerant to some sugars, please inform your doctor before taking this medicine.

Ibuprom Max – indications for use
In what situations can Ibuprom Max help? It has an anti-inflammatory effect – so it fights inflammation, which is often the cause of pain. The indications for taking Ibuprom Max are primarily mild to moderate pain of various origins, including:
- sharp muscle pains;
- sharp bone pains;
- acute migraine headaches;
- sharp postoperative pains;
- sharp menstrual pains;
- neuralgia;
- headaches;
- arthralgia;
- pain in the lumbosacral region of the spine;
- toothache;
- fever accompanying flu, colds and other infectious diseases.

Ibuprom Max – contraindications
Due to the mechanism of action of Ibuprom Max and Ibuprom Max Sprint, there are quite numerous contraindications to their use. In some cases, they may lead to health and life-threatening complications and side effects. They absolutely should not take them:
- children under the age of 12;
- women in the third trimester of pregnancy;
- people who are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the excipients of the drug, as well as to other drugs from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
- People with a history of allergy symptoms such as runny nose, bronchial asthma or urticaria after taking acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
- patients with stomach ulcer and / or duodenum (active or in the past), as well as patients with perforation or bleeding;
- people who are taking other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs concomitantly, especially COX-2 inhibitors;
- people struggling with severe liver, kidney or heart failure;
- patients with hemorrhagic diathesis.
Only on the recommendation of a doctor and under his close supervision, with extreme caution Ibuprom Max should be used when:
- you suffer from lupus erythematosus or mixed connective tissue disease;
- the patient is struggling with arterial hypertension or impaired heart, kidney or liver function;
- you suffer from blood clotting disorders;
- the patient has diseases of the digestive system or chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, e.g. ulcerative colitis or Lesniewski-Crohn’s disease;
- you have or have had asthma in the past;
- the patient is taking other medications in parallel, especially diuretics, anticoagulants, cardiac medications or corticosteroids.
In the case of any other coexisting diseases, the use of Ibuprom Max and Ibuprom Max Sprint should always be carefully consulted with a doctor. It is also important to carefully observe the body’s reaction to the drug used and to react quickly if any unusual or disturbing symptoms appear, especially in the digestive system. Do not delay if you notice anything that worries you – it’s best to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Ibuprom Max – dosage
In acute treatment it is used one Ibuprom Max tablet orally every 4 hoursunless your doctor tells you otherwise. You should not take more than 3 tablets a day. If a dose is missed, a double dose should not be taken later to compensate for it.
It should also be remembered that this drug should not be used for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor – Ibuprom Max is intended for short-term use. A medical consultation is required if symptoms persist or even worsen, or if new, previously unknown symptoms appear.
It is worth knowing that long-term use of painkillers can lead to kidney damage with the risk of kidney failure (postalgetic nephropathy). Therefore, avoid using them when it is not necessary or use them under medical supervision.
What to do in the event of an overdose of Ibuprom Max? In this case, you should visit a doctor or the nearest hospital for an opinion on the patient’s condition and possible threats to his health, and advice on what further actions should be taken. Common symptoms of an ibuprofen overdose include:
- nausea and vomiting;
- stomach pains;
- diarrhea;
- nystagmus;
- Headache;
- ringing in the ears and confusion.
After taking high doses, symptoms may be more severe and include, among others, heart palpitations, hematuria, seizures, breathing problems and even unconsciousness. Severe ibuprofen poisoning they can also lead to acute kidney failure and severe liver damage. In such cases, it is therefore important to act quickly and to initiate appropriate symptomatic and (if necessary) life support treatment.
Ibuprom Max – possible side effects
As with the use of almost any drug, side effects may occur when taking Ibuprom Max. The set of possible side effects includes:
- common (in 1 to 10 patients out of 100 using the drug): heartburn, flatulenceabdominal pain, gas, diarrhea constipation, nausea, vomiting, slight gastrointestinal bleeding, which may lead to anemia;
- uncommon (in 1 to 10 patients in 1000 using the drug): allergic reactions such as rash itching whether attacks of breathlessness (sometimes with drop in blood pressure), dizziness, insomnia, agitation, fatigue, irritability, blurred vision, gastrointestinal ulceration, ulcerative stomatitis, gastritis, exacerbation of colitis or Crohn’s disease.
- occurring rarely (in 1 to 10 out of 10 users of the drug): Tinnitus, necrosis of the renal papilla.
