Ibuprofen Pabi is a prescription medicine. It belongs to the group of NSAIDs – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is sold in the form of coated tablets containing 200 mg of the active ingredient – ibuprofen – in packets of 60 pieces.
How does Ibuprofen Pabi work?
The active substance of the drug is ibuprofen, a compound from the group of NSAIDs that exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. Its action at the biochemical level is to inhibit the cascade of inflammation in the cell, thanks to which substances acting as mediators of inflammation and pain are not produced. Its anti-inflammatory effect is made possible by inhibiting the activity of the COX-2 enzyme – cyclooloxygenase – which produces substances called prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain and inflammation. The effect of the drug is also a reversible inhibition of platelet aggregation.
How is Ibuprofen Pabi used?
Ibuprofen has moderate to moderate analgesia. The indication for its use is pain of various origins, from mild to moderate. It is also used to reduce fever in various infections. It is also used in the symptomatic treatment of joint pain in chronic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis.
Contraindications and precautions when using Ibuprofen Pabi
Due to the fact that ibuprofen inhibits not only the action of COX-2 responsible for the formation of inflammation, but also COX-1, which is an enzyme necessary for the proper functioning of many cells, the main side effect of ibuprofen is the reversible inhibition of platelet aggregation and a negative effect on the condition of the mucosa of the digestive system. Therefore, the main contraindications to the use of the drug are gastric and duodenal ulcer disease, perforation or bleeding from the digestive system, hemorrhagic diathesis. The drug is also contraindicated in severe liver, kidney and heart failure. Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the preparation and in the third trimester of pregnancy is an absolute contraindication, it is not recommended to use the drug throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The most common side effects after taking Ibuprofen Pabi are hypersensitivity reactions (rash) and decreased appetite. There may also appear various types of digestive system disorders, visual disturbances, dry mouth, headaches, and rhinitis. The drug can cause a number of different side effects, which are listed in this leaflet, with a lower frequency.
Ibuprofen Pabi interacts in various ways with other medications, so tell your doctor about all your medications and read this leaflet carefully. It should absolutely not be used with other drugs from the NSAID group due to the increased risk of accumulation of side effects of this group of drugs.
