Ibufen Total is used in fever, mild and moderate pain and symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The preparation is an over-the-counter medicine in the form of coated tablets. It is used in children and adults, and its active substance is ibuprofen.

Operation of Ibufen Total
Ibufen Total is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with the active substance ibuprofen.
Indications and dosage of Ibufen Total
Ibufen Toal is intended for people suffering from rheumatoid osteoarthritis. It is also great for treating moderate pain:
- toothache,
- arthralgia,
- muscle aches,
- flu and cold symptoms,
- painful menstruation,
- Headache,
- fever of various origins.
Dosage:
- Adults and adolescents after 12 years of age orally 200-400 mg (1-2 tablets) every 4-6 hours depending on the intensity of pain. The maximum dose of 1,2 g / d (6 tablets / day).
- Feverish conditions in children. Fever up to 39 ° C – 5 mg / kg, fever> 39 ° C – 10 mg / kg Dose max. 40 mg / kg bw / day.
Ibufen Total and contraindications
Contraindications to the use of Ibufen Total are:
- allergy to any ingredient of the preparation or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (after taking it may appear: asthma, urticaria, rhinitis),
- active or recent gastric and duodenal ulcer disease,
- severe liver, kidney and heart failure,
- hemorrhagic diathesis,
- simultaneous use of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
- III trimester of pregnancy.
An over-the-counter drug intended for use by adults and children over 12 years of age.
Ibufen Total and warnings
- Patients should not take more than the recommended dose.
- The preparation is intended for immediate use.
- If symptoms persist after using the preparation, see a doctor.
- People with systemic lupus erythematosus and mixed connective tissue disease, gastrointestinal diseases, renal failure, cardiac dysfunction, arterial hypertension, hepatic impairment or blood coagulation disorders should be absolutely careful.
- Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation may occur during use.
- When disturbing gastrointestinal symptoms occur, contact a doctor (especially the elderly).
- Patients with bronchial asthma and allergic reactions to acetylsalicylic acid and taking other medications (especially medications that lower blood pressure, diuretics, cardiac and psychotropic medications or anticoagulants, such as warfarin), should consult a physician before taking the drug.
- The elderly may be at risk of side effects, the lowest dose should be used for the shortest possible time.
- Occasional visual disturbances have occurred while taking the drug (consult a doctor if this occurs).
- Patients should avoid taking ibuprofen concurrently with ulcerogenic substances or drugs and with drugs that increase the risk of bleeding (anti-aggregating drugs, e.g. acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin, corticosteroids), as there is a possibility of gastrointestinal disorders.
- Long-term use of ibuprofen in high doses may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
- Renal failure may develop when you use painkillers at the same time for a long time.
- Patients may develop unpleasant skin reactions (stop using the preparation at the first symptoms of allergy, e.g. rash).
- Patients taking the drug may have fertility problems.
- The sucrose contained in the drug may cause side effects in people with diabetes, in people with glucose-galactose malabsorption, fructose intolerance or in people with sucrose-isomaltase deficiency.
- It is not recommended to use the preparation in women in the first and second trimester of pregnancy (only after medical consultation).
- It is contraindicated to use the drug in the third trimester of pregnancy.
- In lactating women, the ibuprofen contained in the drug may pass into the food (no safety data are available during breastfeeding).
- There are no data on the effect of the preparation on the ability to drive motor vehicles.
Ibufen Total is a child
Simultaneous use of Ibufen Total with:
- acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs increases the risk of gastrointestinal side effects,
- antihypertensive drugs and diuretics – can reduce their effectiveness,
- anticoagulants – may increase the effect of drugs that reduce blood clotting,
- lithium and methotrexate – may increase the plasma concentration of both lithium and methotrexate,
- zidovudine – bleeding time may be prolonged,
- with corticosteroids – the risk of side effects in the digestive tract.
Ibufen Total – side effects
- The following may occur: gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea, indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, flatulence, gastritis; headache, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, irritability, tinnitus, or psychotic reactions; non-specific allergic and anaphylactic reactions; Respiratory reactions manifested by asthma, worsening of asthma, bronchospasm or dyspnoea, very rarely, facial swelling of the tongue, larynx, cardiac arrhythmias, low blood pressure and shock;
- The following may appear: skin reactions in the form of skin rash, pruritus, urticaria, purpura, angioedema; thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, anemia (first symptoms are fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers, flu-like symptoms, nosebleed, bruising, ecchymosis, etc.). Occasionally bullous dermatosis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, gastric ulcer or bleeding, tar-like stools, bloody vomiting, worsening of colitis and Crohn’s disease, liver dysfunction, kidney failure, decreased urine output, papillary necrosis increase in plasma sodium, edema, hypertension, heart failure.
- Isolated cases of symptoms associated with aseptic meningitis have been reported in people with autoimmune diseases (e.g. lupus erythematosus). Long-term use of ibuprofen in high doses may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke.
