The expectant mother was confidently told twice on an ultrasound that she would have a daughter. The fact that in fact all this time she was carrying a boy, the woman found out only when he was born.
“Congratulations, you’re having a girl,” the Uzist told 33-year-old Hayley Sexton confidently.
The expectant mother was delighted. She really wanted her daughter: a friend with whom she could go shopping together, play with dolls, whisper under the blanket in the bedroom, change clothes and cosmetics. In general, mom and daughter are a real idyll.
Of course, there was still a small percentage for diagnostic errors. And Hayley’s dreams were strange: as if in fact she was giving birth to a boy. But after, at the next examination, she was again told that a girl would be born, all doubts disappeared. And the young woman began to actively prepare for the baby’s birth.
Before giving birth, Hayley managed to make repairs in the nursery: of course, everything is in pink. Everywhere dolls, hearts, flowers – in general, everything for the girl. The final touch: “Isabella” is written on the walls – this is the name chosen for my daughter. And, of course, a “dowry” for the baby: blankets, booties, sliders, cradle, nipples. We will not even say what color – guess for yourself.
Hailey also threw a party in honor of the upcoming birth. In the most pink tones. Gifts for the baby were also absolutely girly delicate shades.
The birth began on September 20 and lasted a long 33 hours. Only when the baby was born did the newly-made mom find out that she actually had a son!
“The midwife says: here he is. And I think: what does “he” mean? – says Haley.
Now she can already remember the story with a laugh. And then she was in shock.
“At first I didn’t understand anything,” says the young mother. – Only when the baby was washed and shown to me, I saw that he had a male “difference”.
The boy was named Alfie. And all the relatives had to come to terms with the fact that they would not have Isabella. At least this time.
“My whole family was shocked, my mother didn’t even believe me right away,” says Haley. – Some were even upset. It was like grief for the girl we had all been waiting for. But we all love Alfie, he is an amazing kid. Everything is as it should be”.
Love is love, but the Sexton family had to urgently redo everything they could: repaint the nursery, return pink dresses to the store. However, if you ask Hayley if all this fuss is worth the fact that she has a wonderful son, she will definitely answer – yes.
By the way, how did it happen? After all, starting from 20 weeks, modern ultrasound machines determine the sex with almost one hundred percent accuracy. But, as the doctors explained to the surprised mother, Alfie was completely tiny (he was born small, only 2800 grams), so they could not consider his gender.
