“I want to be heard”: series on the topic

A West Side fashionista, a handicapped boy, an Asian family trying to assimilate into the States… What do they have in common? They all desperately want those around them to hear their voice and everything that is important for them to say. We have collected for you several shows that easily and excitingly beat a difficult topic.

“The Amazing Mrs Maisel”

Every week, Miriam Maisel measures and records her waist, thighs and ankles in a notebook – she was taught this by her mother. As well as combine shades of pink in a suit – from the color of a suckling pig to arrogant fuchsia. Every week she goes with her husband to the third-rate club Gaslight, a New York clerk trying to start a career as a stand-up comedian.

But one day she will feel: stop being on vocals. It’s time for her solo. Not a spouse, but she has something to say from the stage. About my life as a married and then divorced (is it possible?) Jewish woman from the West Side. About her opinions – an American woman, whose voice is not very heard at the end of the 50s, on the verge of life-changing changes for the country and the world. Yes, her very voice from the stage – an excellent student, a father’s daughter – is almost a revolution. As for what she’s joking about…

About her husband who left for a secretary, about children, about her father-professor, from whom her mother ran away to Paris, about friends from the cosmetics department of the main supermarket in Manhattan, about the morals of their clients … Male comedians make fun of her, she does not dare to tell her parents about that she became a comedian (comedian?!) … But in sparkling improvisations, she seems to speak on behalf of the women of her country and her generation.

And make the spoiled public hear itself. Because she has a gift – under the general laughter to make her little life an experience for each of the listeners.

“There are no words”

A sitcom about a large family, one of the children in which is disabled and cannot talk. Relatives adore him and are always ready to help. But it turns out that it is sometimes much easier to hear the wordless than those who are quite capable of explaining themselves.

“Difficulties of Assimilation”

The series is about Louis, his dad and mom, who came from Taiwan to start a new life in America. However, it is not easy to make you understand people of a different culture. And most importantly, understand them yourself. The sitcom has gone through five seasons.
