I made a tincture on pepper and wood chips to compare whether homemade alcohol differs from store-bought: I share the results and the recipe

That year a friend came to visit me. Haven’t seen him in a while, which isn’t surprising. My friend works as a forester, and the only way to get to him is by special vehicles.

There was a big feast, at the end of which the guest said that store-bought alcohol is, of course, an interesting thing, but homemade is still better. Take, for example, at least a tincture of pepper and wood chips.

Story from blog subscriber Alexey.

Why I decided to make alcohol myself

Having slept a little after the feast the next morning, my friend and I remembered the previous conversation. The comrade turned out to be an ardent fan of home-made alcohol, while I, on the contrary, tried only store-bought options.

In general, word for word, we decided to try to prepare some kind of tincture. A friend simply missed them, and I was simply wondering if homemade and store-bought alcohol are very different.

Note! There are more than 80 types of alcohol in the world. Most of them can be prepared at home.

We thought long and hard about what to cook. The friend suggested several options. Some could be done in a few hours (we did try one of them after a couple of days), others had to be prepared for months, strictly following the technology.

A friend especially liked the tincture of moonshine, pepper and wood chips. It was decided to prepare it. No sooner said than done. On the same day we went to the grocery store.

What ingredients are required

I must say, when a friend announced the list of ingredients, my eyes almost popped into my head. He was way too big. But the interest was still stronger, and my friend, seeing my dumbfounded look, said that he would buy half of the products himself.

Money was not that important to me. I was more impressed by the number of items in the list:

  1. 3 liters of moonshine. I had to try hard to find it. The benefit of connoisseurs of its preparation can be found, probably, in every settlement.
  2. 3 art. spoons of oak bark. This is the point that puzzled me the most. I already thought that now I would have to go into the forest and peel off innocent trees, but no. Everything turned out to be much easier. Oak bark can be purchased at a pharmacy – 40 rubles per pack.
  3. 1 st. l. honey – 350 rubles. for the bank.
  4. Chili pepper, 3 pods – 120 rubles.
  5. 1 st. l. oregano – 69 rubles. for a pack in the same pharmacy.
  6. 1 gr. Vanillin – 36 rubles.
  7. A pinch of coriander – 20 rubles.
  8. Carnation, 5 pcs. — 190 rubles.
  9. 10 peas of allspice – 25 rubles for the whole pack.

Not the cheapest tincture is obtained. Anyway. I really wanted to try something of my own, homemade. And then there was, so to speak, an alcoholic master nearby. It was necessary to use the case.

Note! Moonshine can be replaced with vodka, but then the strength of the tincture will be lower.

The cooking process

So, the products are bought, and we proceed to the preparation of the tincture itself. In this, by the way, there was nothing complicated. All components were simply folded into a glass jar and filled with moonshine.

Infused.

The container was tightly closed with a lid and shaken well, after which it was left to infuse for a week in a closet. After 7 days, the tincture was filtered several times through ordinary gauze.

Here comes a very interesting moment. Purified alcohol, according to a friend, would have to be insisted for another two weeks in a dark place, but we could not wait that long. A few days later, a friend had to leave.

As a result, two liters of tincture were bottled and went back to the cabinet, and we decided to taste the rest.

Note! During infusion, the container must be shaken periodically.

What result did I get

In the end, the tincture resembled cognac in color. The taste, by the way, was appropriate, maybe a little sweeter. The oak bark and spices masked the alcohol notes perfectly.

Tasting

In general, I did not regret that my friend and I decided on this adventure at all. The result, as they say, lived up to expectations, which, of course, I was very pleased with.

In the future, I myself got new recipes and prepared alcohol at home, but I remembered the first tincture in my life for a long time. What recipes for homemade alcohol do you know? Share?

Dear readers, remember that alcohol abuse harms your body. Take care of yourself!
