It was in May. The heat approached the dorm windows. It was boring and hot to sit on the priest evenly, so my girlfriend and I decided to go for a walk in hellish hell.
After five minutes of walking, cursing the sun god Ra and everyone else, we flew to a stall with life-giving kvass. Having drunk the unfortunate 0,33 l, so much so that it flowed down my mustache, but it didn’t get into my mouth, I suggested to my partner in misfortune to make kvass with my own hands.
My friend thought the idea was great. In the wild little heads there was an approximate idea of what is needed for kvass. But just in case, we sat on Instagram to look at recipes and at the same time photos of cats.
We broke away when it was already dark, went to the store. It turned out that finding the ingredients we wanted was more difficult than finding the recipe.

Ingredients
Three days passed, the hands did not reach the point, and the legs to the store. By the will of fate, life brought us to a hypermarket after studying. The choice was such that the eyes run wide: one to the Caucasus, the other to Arzamas. Gathering all our attention, we bought everything we needed.
Normal recipes usually call for breadcrumbs, hops, or some other complex ingredient. The Lazy Guide includes the following components:
- Ready set for making kvass;
- Water;
- Sugar;
- A handful of raisins.
A ready-made kit usually includes concentrated wort and yeast. Yes, not the most profitable purchase, but it is difficult to save, and we were not looking for difficulties.
The pack is designed for 6 liters of a miracle drink. Inside lay the instructions, which were immediately thrown away.
Prepare
We took the preparation process seriously: we found a 6-liter bottle that had been lying under the bed for two years and served as a haven for cockroaches. Washed it, dried it.
As you know, bottles must be closed with lids. Our lid was lost without a trace in the abyss of the mess. But why be discouraged, what is not being done – everything is for the better.
We went to the nearest pharmacy and bought medical gloves. Compared to cork, the glove has its advantages: it stretches and, according to probability theory, has a minimal chance of exploding. And even if it breaks, it will not be the second explosion of Chernobyl, but simply the sound of a balloon bursting.
To fasten the glove, you can use rubber bands for money. Although the students do not have money, for some reason they found rubber bands for them.
Recipe water should be warm. They say that if you shout 80 years at a glass, then the water in it will boil. As for me, it is more efficient to find a water heating element: a fire, a kettle, a boiler, but this is at the discretion of the cook. Utensils needed for making kvass:
- Bottle 6 l or more;
- Glove and rubber band;
- Kettle.
Recipe
Pour about 6 liters of warm water into the bottle, add malt sachets. Next, add sugar. The recipes recommend some ridiculous amounts: 100 grams.
With chemistry, we are “you”, because we know: malt stimulates the fermentation process of sugar, which, ultimately, breaks down into 2 molecules of alcohol and 2 molecules of carbon dioxide. It is easy to guess that the more sugar you add, the more alcohol you get.
Therefore, we poured a glass of sugar and stirred well. They threw a handful of raisins into the muddy liquid. The last step is to gently sprinkle the yeast on the surface of the liquid and put the bottle in a warm place for 3-7 days.
To find that fine line between well-fermented kvass and moldy slurry, you can only check the condition of the drink daily.
Сonclusion
After 7 days, we got a ready-made drink, the smell of which was on the whole hostel. Students, like flies, flocked to this culinary masterpiece. And my girlfriend and I were no longer able to refuse a request to test the product.
It turned out something incomprehensible: it tastes like sweet beer, but gives it to the head like mash. In any case, the stomach remained in order, and we were tipsy, therefore, the experiment was a success.
