Vitaminum C Hasco – indications and dosage
Vitaminum C Hasco is a recommended drug:
- in vitamin C deficiency in the body (insufficient supply with diet, malabsorption syndrome),
- in increased demand for vitamin C during intense exercise, reduced body immunity, convalescence, hyperthyroidism, tuberculosis and smoking,
- supportive, e.g. during colds, flu, asthma, atherosclerosis or impaired wound healing.
Dosage of the preparation
Vitaminum C Hasco is in the form of tablets to be taken orally.
- Adults and children after 12 years of age: preventive 100-200 mg / day, therapeutically 100-200 mg twice / day.
- Children 6-12. years of age: preventive 100 mg / day, therapeutically 200-300 mg / day.
- In children under 6 years of age, the use of the drug is not recommended due to the risk of aspiration.
Vitaminum C Hasco and contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients is a contraindication to the use of Vitaminum C Hasco.
Vitaminum C Hasco – warnings
- In patients with deficiency of blood glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, urolithiasis or a tendency to form mineral deposits in the urinary system, with excessive excretion of oxalic acid in the urine, caution and limitation of the use of Vitaminum C Hasco is recommended.
- Symptoms of scurvy may occur when treatment is stopped suddenly in patients taking vitamin C for a long time.
- Vitamin C can cause false results in some laboratory tests (false-positive urine glucose test, false-negative stool blood test, low test results for certain enzymes, high or low blood serum bilirubin tests).
- Patients with hereditary disorders of galactose intolerance, the lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not use the preparation.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using the drug.
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding, ascorbic acid doses should not be used in excess of the daily requirement.
Vitaminum C Hasco with other drugs
- The concomitant use of vitamin C with sulfonamides may lead to the precipitation of sulfonamide crystals in the urine.
- Vitamin C causes increased iron absorption, lengthening the half-life of paracetamol in the blood, it also enhances the effect of flavin glycosides and may increase the concentration of estrogens in the blood serum.
- High doses of acetylsalicylic acid, tetracyclines, oral contraceptives and barbiturates reduce the concentration of ascorbic acid in the blood.
Vitaminum C Hasco – side effects
Long-term use of high doses of Vitamin C Hasco may cause:
- headaches,
- reddening of the skin,
- diuretic effect,
- deposition of calcium oxalate and urate crystals in the urinary tract,
- after abrupt discontinuation of the preparation, possible symptoms of deficiency (scurvy), and even addiction with headaches.
