PSYchology

One day, a math teacher from Minnesota gave her students the following task: make a class list, think about what they like most about each of their classmates, and write this quality next to their last name. At the end of the lesson, she made lists. It was Friday. Over the weekend, she processed the results and on Monday handed out to each student a sheet on which she listed all the good things that her classmates noticed in him.

The children were reading here and there a whisper was heard: “Is it really all about me? I didn’t know I was so loved.» They didn’t discuss the results in class, but the teacher knew she had achieved her goal. Her students believed in themselves.

A few years later, one of these guys, Mark Acklund, died in Vietnam. He was buried at home, in Minnesota. Friends, former classmates, teachers came to say goodbye to Mark. At the wake, his father approached the math teacher: “I want to show you something,” he took out a piece of paper folded in four, worn on the folds, from his wallet. It was evident that it had been read and reread many times. “It was found in Mark’s things. He did not part with him. Do you recognize?» He handed the paper to her. This was a list of positive qualities that classmates noticed in Mark.

“Thank you very much,” Mark’s mother said. “Our son loved it so much.

And then an amazing thing happened: one by one, Mark’s classmates took out the same sheets. Many always kept them with them, in their wallets. Some even kept theirs in a family album. One of them said: “We all saved these lists. Can you throw it away?»
