I decided to test a fashionable bonifier to improve the taste of moonshine: I share whether it is worth spending money on them

I am not a fan of adding all sorts of chemicals to alcoholic drinks. But once I received advice from a friend to improve my moonshine with a bonifier. I doubted until the last whether it is worth using such a thing. In the end, I decided why not give it a try. Maybe I’ve been doing the wrong thing all this time.

Now I’ll tell you what I ended up with and what conclusions I drew from this.

The story was shared by blog reader Oleg.

What is a bonifier

From a conversation with my friend, who was advised by the bonifier, I realized one thing that he supposedly makes moonshine better. Naturally, I doubted a little, since some, at first glance, unrealistic properties were described.

In general, a bonifier is a food additive. Initially, it was used only in industry, but people have found use for it in home alcohol production, which is not surprising to me.

People always show ingenuity, especially in such matters. I know this for myself, because from year to year my experience in preparing alcoholic beverages is constantly growing.

The main task of the bonifier in alcohol is to give it more softness, remove an unpleasant odor, and also reduce the amount of substances that adversely affect the human body. The latter I especially appreciate, since the buffifier, in theory, should mitigate a hangover.

Important! The bonifier can also add additional flavors to moonshine, for example, cognac or bread.

What it consists of

When I bought myself a few sachets of this substance, I got tired of reading the composition. For me, this is quite difficult, but I will share with you what I managed to learn. Manufacturers convince us that only natural elements are used in the bonifier. I immediately noted this as a definite plus.

These include: vitamins B and C, lactulose and glucose, some amino acids, succinic acid, malic acid, purified milk whey, some plant extracts. Interestingly, each element has its own purpose. That is, each of them performs its specific function.

In general, one conclusion can be drawn that they are at least harmless, which is very pleasing. By the way, the composition of bonuses may differ slightly depending on the goals of the moonshiner (giving a certain taste, aroma, etc.).

My conclusion

I did everything as indicated in the instructions and as my friend told me. I approached the tasting with high hopes, as I was promised a lot. Looking ahead, I want to say that I was very disappointed. Perhaps the reason is unjustified expectations.

My moonshine

But I want to say that I did not feel much effect. If there were any changes, they were minor. The nasty smell still remained, the taste is not so mild, the usual hangover.

But most of all I was disappointed by the fact that I needed additional expenses. Yes, I paid 10 rubles for a bottle of 200 liters of moonshine, but still it’s more than nothing.

Here’s what I got

In conclusion, I want to say that I would not recommend buying it. This is just my opinion. Of course, you can take one sachet (or vial) and test it yourself. After all, until you try it yourself, you will not fully understand. So the rest is up to you.

How to replace

As already mentioned, I have been making moonshine for several years. To improve it, I used many tricks, and the option with a bonus loses to many. That is, I decided to abandon it altogether immediately after one use.

There are many other options that I prefer. For example, to improve the quality of the drink as a whole, take it and run it several times. So it will become much cleaner, harmful impurities that affect a hangover will leave.

My tangerine tincture

If you want to change the color and taste, then moonshine (alcohol, vodka, etc.) can be insisted on something. There are many fruits and spices for this. I use walnuts, tangerines or oranges, raspberries. It turns out much better.

Important! If the drink is already of good quality (for example, vodka), then the bonifier will not give any effect at all.

This once again proved to me personally that folk recipes are much cheaper and more effective. The only thing that still surprises me is why bonifiers have so many fans? Either I don’t understand something, or I did something wrong.

I would like to hear your experience of using it, if any. It is advisable that you specify a specific recipe. Perhaps it is different from mine, and this will push me to another experiment.
