What apartments did they live in and how were they furnished, how did they go abroad for the first time and what did they bring from there; they sewed clothes themselves or in an atelier, as they got imported shoes … Everyday, tangible details of the private life of Soviet citizens are the main object of Iren Andreeva’s attention, and not the facts of her biography (in the 1980s she became secretary of the Union of Designers and People’s Deputy of the USSR). And the sections in the book are also unusual for memoirs — «Apartment», «Car», «Dacha» and, of course, «Clothes». For almost 30 years, the author of the book has been studying fashion and doing everything so that other similar inhabitants and inhabitants wear fashionable and beautiful clothes. Iren Andreeva’s book is distinguished by self-irony, optimism and the belief that the beauty of everyday life will save the world no less than beauty in the highest spiritual sense.
