I ALWAYS STRESS THE NEED FOR REGULAR EXAMINATIONS FOR YOUTH ACNE

Juvenile acne occurs in 80% of teenagers during puberty. The face, and often the skin of the back, becomes oily, and the pores of the skin are blocked. It appears red inflammation with white heads. How to remove them? Here’s a dermatologist’s advice.

WHAT TYPES OF YOUTH ACNE HAVE YOU SEEN?

In adolescence, there are different types of acne.

There may be several inflammations or many very large ones. This is psychologically difficult for teenagers, especially since acne can remain on the face for several years if left untreated. Our young patients often treat their acne incorrectly, leaving scars on their faces. The frequency of acne appearance depends on the time of year. They usually appear in autumn.

WHAT CARE DO YOU RECOMMEND?

I explain to my patients which products to use and why.

In addition, I always emphasize the need for regular checkups for juvenile acne. I prescribe topical products to reduce blackhead formation (adapalene) and to target some of the microbes that cause inflammatory acne (benzoyl peroxide). Oral agents (cyclins) are often needed to improve the effectiveness of treatment. For very severe and persistent forms of acne, I suggest isotretinoin treatment.

DO YOU PERFORM ANY PROCEDURES AT THE CLINIC?

Acne can be retention,

which means that the pores of the sebaceous channels of the skin are blocked by comedones (blackheads) and microcysts. In such cases, the skin requires dermatological cleansing. A painless, fine scarification procedure is performed on the surface of the skin to drain comedones and microcysts. This increases the effectiveness of the treatment.
