It would seem that there could be something wrong. But it can! And we often make mistakes in matters of personal hygiene, and teach children to repeat their mistakes.
Self-care is never superfluous. But he must be literate. And sometimes we even take care of a baby not very well. For example, bathing a newborn, we make a whole bunch of mistakes. And we instill in the baby our own hygienic delusions. For example, these are.
1. Clean your ears
Of course, it is necessary to wash them. But to climb inside with a cotton swab is absolutely unnecessary. Doctors have repeatedly warned that such fanatical cleaning of sulfur can easily harm oneself by injuring the eardrum. The maximum that you can afford is to walk with a soapy finger over the auricle. And with an effort, you do not need to push anything inside the ear.
2. Cut your nails short
First, it’s ugly. Men have already discovered all the delights of manicure and are almost not shy about taking care of their hands. Secondly, there is a great danger of earning an ingrown nail, especially if you do not cut in a straight line, but also cut the edges in a semicircle. It is especially dangerous to do this with toenails. It is better to carefully file, teach to shape the nails, than to cut them completely short.
3. Wash with soap and water twice a day
Certain places, of course, need to be washed with soap: legs, arms, armpits, neck and intimate places. But rubbing yourself twice a day with a washcloth from head to toe, sparing no shower gel, is unnecessary. In this way, we only destroy the natural protective layer of the skin, making it vulnerable to bacteria.
By the way, you don’t need to wash the baby every day either. Local ablutions are, of course, necessary. You can also run into the bath every day. But it is not necessary to wash – with soap, with oils. It doesn’t get so dirty.
4. Use tooth rinse
The main purpose of a mouthwash is to kill bacteria that could theoretically be there.
“You don’t need to kill anything in your mouth,” says dentist Alexandra Smirnova. – Normal flora does not need disinfection. Therefore, you should not abuse the mouthwash. Use it a maximum of ten times a month if you are in doubt about the freshness of your breath. “
5. Combing too fanatically
To brush through the hair a hundred times with a massage brush – such a covenant was passed on to us by grandmothers and mothers. These movements make sense: firstly, sebum is distributed through the hair, nourishing them, and secondly, combing is a massage that improves blood circulation. But this is all useful if the child has the correct comb made of natural bristles. Otherwise, it will not injure the hair and scalp for a long time. Better to comb just for the sake of combing. And do the massage with your hands.
6. Brush your teeth for three minutes
Oh no, we are not encroaching on the main commandment of the dentists of our childhood. The teeth must be brushed very thoroughly. But the point here is not the time spent, but the approach. It is necessary to teach the child the correct brush movements, and this, believe me, takes much more than three minutes. Try to brush your teeth from the inside only with sweeping movements from top to bottom! But there is simply no other way to do it.
“Horizontal movements leave scratches on the enamel of the teeth,” explains Alexandra Smirnova. “Any damage makes the teeth vulnerable.”
7. Wash your hair every day
Oh, painful question. In the conditions of a metropolis, the hair of many on the second day looks stale. But this is partly our fault: we ourselves “accustomed” our hair to frequent washing. Moreover, we do not always choose the right care products.
“My hair every day, we spoil the scalp. Increased production of sebum for protection begins. And we wash our heads even more often, ”says cosmetologist-trichologist Ksenia Titova.
Ideally, you should wash your hair twice a week. And to make your hair less dirty, choose the right shampoo and monitor the diet – both yours and childrens. The less fatty, spicy, sweet, the less often you will have to wash your hair.
What should you teach your child
Use dental floss – caries most often occurs in the interdental spaces.
Don’t forget about the deodorant (and the fact that it needs to be washed off).
It is important to use care products according to your age!
Do not hesitate to pick up a pumice stone – children also have corns.
Use sunscreen not when mom forces you to, but every time you go out into the sun.
Change underwear, socks and T-shirts every day.
