Hydrogen peroxide, also known as hydrogen peroxide solution, is a caustic substance – however, the preparation available in pharmacies is a three percent solution. Hydrogen peroxide is called by some people a cure for everything, in fact it works primarily as a disinfectant, used to heal skin cuts.
Thanks to hydrogen peroxide, the processes of wound healing and granulation accelerate significantly. When the wound is first poured with hydrogen peroxide, a short-term burning may appear – the tissues are then cleaned and their loosening takes place. Hydrogen peroxide has been known for over 160 years and, apart from medicine, has also been used in cosmetics.

The use of hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is primarily used to disinfect wounds – it is used as an antibacterial agent to clean the wound. Nevertheless, in addition to it, many people use for the same purpose, e.g. iodine or preparations containing betaine, which also moisturize wounds and inhibit the development of infections. Despite this, hydrogen peroxide is still one of the most popular preparations for washing wounds.
Hydrogen peroxide can also be used as a gargle and mouth rinse – but do not swallow it. This is a proven way to relieve pain, useful, for example, during a cold. To prepare a rinse with hydrogen peroxide for this purpose, dissolve a teaspoon of the substance in a glass of water. Moreover, hydrogen peroxide has also been used in the treatment of inflammation of the gingival pockets – in this case, the aforementioned rinse should also be prepared.
Hydrogen peroxide has found application in the treatment of runny nose and sick sinuses. However, remember not to pour the preparation itself into the nose – it is necessary to combine it (about 7 drops of hydrogen peroxide) with 5 ml of saline. In addition, the hydrogen peroxide rinse can be used after consuming spicy vegetables, such as onions and garlic, or when you just have bad breath. Hydrogen peroxide can also be added to the bath to relieve aches and pains in the joints, spine and joints.
The use of hydrogen peroxide is not limited to alleviating the symptoms of the above-mentioned injuries. The preparation (about half a bottle) can be added to the washing of yellowed white clothes. You can also use it to clean soap scum, water stains and remove mold that has appeared in the corners of the bathroom and kitchen walls. Spray the substance on the wall, but remember to only slightly wet it.

Hydrogen peroxide is widely used in cosmetics, e.g. it is used as an ingredient in a hair bleaching preparation. Provided there are no contraindications, you can use the preparation as a tonic and use it to wash the skin affected by acne and allergic rashes – thanks to the substance, the wound healing time is shortened. You can also make homemade toothpaste from hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.

Hydrogen peroxide has disinfecting properties. Thanks to it, it is easier to stop bleeding, destroy bacteria and decontaminate the wound resulting from a small cut or abrasion. The fluid has bactericidal properties and is also used to disinfect drinking water. However, it should be remembered that this is a method that should be used only in extreme situations, because the constant water treatment with hydrogen peroxide is dangerous to your health.

The oral use of hydrogen peroxide during pregnancy is forbidden by many specialists. According to some groups of scientists, drinking such a preparation can even lead to death, especially if a person drinks highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide, both during pregnancy and not, should be used only externally – the decision to use it should be consulted with a specialist.
