Rose Ice for You (Rose Eyes for You) is a variety of English selection obtained in 2008. The author is Peter J. James. It is a complex hybrid derived from two varieties:
- Persian rose (Rose persica);
- Blue for You.
Description of the rose Ice pho Yu and characteristics
Variety Ice pho Yu belongs to the group of roses floribunda. They combine the quality of hybrid tea and polyanthus roses. The bush is small, grows up to 75–100, less often 130 cm in height. The shape is round, compact, looks elegant. Shoots are straight, grow vertically, contain prickly thorns. The leaves are medium in size, the color is bright green, the surface is glossy, it glitters pleasantly in the sun.
In the description of the rose Ice fo Yu (pictured), it is indicated that it gives large flowers that reach a diameter of 6 to 10 cm. The color is varied: purple-violet in the center, pale lilac and pink along the edges. The stamens are orange, contrasting against the general background.

Methods of reproduction
The main method of propagation of the rose Ice pho Yu is cuttings. Planting material is obtained in late spring from young green shoots. They need to be cut so that the length of each cutting is 20 cm. The instructions for growing are standard:
- All leaves on the cuttings are removed.
- Make an oblique lower and straight upper cut.
- They are dipped for several hours in a solution of a growth stimulator – “Kornevin”, “Epin”.
- Then they are planted in open ground in a mixture of fertile soil with peat and sand (2: 1: 1), covered with a film or bottle.
- Periodically ventilate and water.
- In autumn, seedlings are mulched, and in spring they are transplanted to a new place.
Rose cuttings Ice pho Yu can be grown both in open ground and at home.
Another convenient way is to receive layering. The procedure starts at the end of September or at the beginning of October. It is first necessary to dig a deep groove (15 cm) and lay one of the lower shoots of the Ais fo Yu rose there. It is pinned with wire, sprinkled with fertile soil, watered and carefully mulched.
In the spring, the protective layer is removed, giving access to light to the top of the shoot, which will start up new branches. In autumn, the layering of the Ice fo Yu rose is cut off from the mother bush and transplanted to a permanent place. Plentifully watered and mulched with peat, humus, sawdust or other material.
Cultivation and care
Rosa Ice pho Yu is demanding on the landing site. She prefers well-lit areas. It is desirable that the light be diffused. It is best to choose light partial shade from tall shrubs or trees. The place must be:
- sufficiently fertile (the soil is loose, pH from 6,0 to 7,0);
- protected from strong winds;
- dry (lowlands with stagnant moisture are excluded);
- with good air circulation (it is undesirable to place near buildings, a roof).
The main planting date is spring (second half of April – early May). Rose Ice pho Yu can be rooted in the fall, 3-4 weeks before the first frost. If the soil is light and fertile, it is not necessary to prepare it. If the soil is depleted, humus or compost is added to it a few months before planting in a bucket of 2 m2 (or 4 tablespoons of complex mineral fertilizer). Heavy clay soil should be made lighter by adding 1 kg of sawdust or sand to the same area.
The algorithm is standard:
- In the area chosen for the Ais fo Yu rose, several holes are dug 50–60 cm deep at a distance of 50 cm (moderately dense planting).

- Small stones are laid in a layer of 8–10 cm.
- The roots of rose seedlings Ice pho Yu are cut to 30 cm and placed in a growth stimulator solution.
- Planted in fertile soil, deepening the root collar by 5–7 cm.
- Plentifully watered (10 l of settled water) and mulched.
To stimulate the rapid growth of Ice pho Yu, when planting, the seedling should be cut off, leaving 3-4 buds.
Caring for a rose of this variety is standard. The plant is unpretentious, but for abundant and long flowering, you should take care of the following activities:
- Regular watering – 1,5–2 buckets of water per adult bush weekly. If the weather is hot, water is given 2 times a week. In drought, it is useful to irrigate the crown in the late evening.
- Top dressing for roses Ice pho Yu: in April, urea 15–20 g per bush, in June and July (during the formation of buds and flowering) – superphosphate (40 g) and potassium salt (20 g). You can alternate mineral supplements with organic matter – litter, mullein, humates, infusion of cut grass.
- After heavy watering or rain, the soil should be carefully loosened.
- Weeding is carried out as needed, carefully removing weeds.
- In summer, you should mulch with peat, sawdust, humus, but it is better not to use these materials for the winter, since they accumulate a lot of moisture.
- In most regions of Our Country (except the south), Ais pho Yu rose bushes must be covered for the winter. And this should be done after the temperature drops below -7 ° C. Cover with spruce branches or burlap. The material is laid between the branches, as well as on a pre-installed frame above the bush.
- Pruning rose varieties Ice pho Yu spend every spring, removing frostbitten, weak branches. In the summer, all wilted flowers are cut off; in the fall, you can thin out the crown for the correct formation of the bush. Older plants need drastic pruning. Remove all shoots, leaving only 2-4 buds.
Rosa Ice for Yu is responsive to regular fertilizing and watering
Only August inflorescences can be left on the Ice pho Yu rose (no more than two pieces on each peduncle). After the end of flowering, they are kept until the formation of fruits. Then the bush will take root better in a new place, and next year it will be able to give flowers.
