The human roundworm, ascariasis, is a much larger, widespread parasite of the nematode group than pinworm. It can be about 40 cm long for females. Infection occurs when eggs enter the intestines, where the larvae hatch, which then enter the lungs through the bloodstream.
In Poland, the occurrence of human roundworm is estimated by various researchers from 1 to 18%, and in some people it is 40-50%. It is believed that human roundworm, like pinworm, is much more common in children. This is because children put dirty hands and fingers in their mouths and they do not know about proper personal hygiene.
The human roundworm is a parasite that lives in the human body and penetrates it, for example, through water, food, dirt in the form of eggs, from which larvae are formed. They need oxygen for the life cycle, so they must pass through the bloodstream to the lungs. There they mature and, inter alia, they pass through the liver, lungs and bronchi to the larynx, where they are swallowed reflexively. One by one, they go to the stomach, and then to the small intestine, where they reach sexual maturity and multiply.
The human roundworm is shaped like a thin and long cylinder with a mouth opening. Females are approx. 40-50 cm long, males 15-35 cm. Roundworms destroy the intestinal walls that feed them. Females lay about 100-200 eggs a day, which are excreted in the faeces and thus released into the environment.
Egg development can take place in soil or water. They have eggs invasion ability, i.e. human infection, for 2-5 years.
There are three stages of human roundworm invasion into the body:
- The period of larval migration, during which symptoms appear, indicating damage to the liver, vascular endothelium, alveolar walls, associated with inflammation and bleeding,
- The period of symptoms and complications resulting from disturbances in their normal migration – the larvae may appear in the eye, ear, brain, liver.
- The period of the presence of mature roundworm in the intestine – poisoning the human body.
Causes of human roundworm infection
The human roundworm is a parasite that can enter the human body in various ways, and the most common cause of the disease is poor personal hygiene. It typically occurs in people who don’t wash their hands after using the toilet or before preparing food. Another source of human roundworm can be dirty fruit and vegetables, but also sand from a sandbox or water from lakes. In order for the disease to develop, it needs appropriate conditions, including oxygen, and therefore it enters the blood system and the lungs where they grow up. The most vulnerable to human roundworm are small children who do not fully know the basic rules of personal hygiene. In Poland, up to 18 percent suffer from this disease. population.
Take care of your health and use Na Parasites – a Panaseus dietary supplement that will help you get rid of parasites from your body.
The main sources of existence of the human roundworm are:
- fruit,
- vegetables,
- earth,
- water,
- Animals,
- sand (e.g. when children play in the sandbox).
You do not need to go to the clinic to find out about the presence of the human roundworm. Today you can take advantage of the mail order test for Valida parasites. You take the swabs yourself at home and the results are available within 10 working days.
Ascaris human – symptoms
Symptoms of the presence of roundworm in the human body:
- nervous hyperactivity;
- persistent sore throat;
- trouble sleeping;
- pain in various areas of the abdomen (not always related to eating);
- flatulence or persistent constipation and the so-called gut cramps;
- shortness of breath (at rest or exercise);
- weight reduction;
- anemia,
- reduction in overall activity and ability to work.
Other symptoms accompanying the human glistus may be: diarrhea, bleeding from the lungs, unpleasant sensation under the skin, decreased appetite, teeth grinding, anxiety attacks (especially at night), drooling, bronchitis, respiratory infections, itchy skin, conjunctivitis, eczema.
The body’s response to the presence of parasites may be the production of the defense protein EPX. Its level can be tested on the basis of a mail order quantification of eosinophilic protein X from Medonet Market’s offers.
The presence of human roundworm in the body can be identified by observing the faeces – larvae or mature specimens appear, but it is possible only after 2-3 months after infection (females only then begin to lay eggs). Additionally, blood and feces are tested for parasites. We recommend Mail-Order Genetic Test for Human Roundworm or Mail-Order Testing of the Intestinal Microflora and Intestinal Markers, which can also determine the presence of the parasite in the body, you can buy at Medonet Market.
It should be emphasized, however, that sometimes the test result may be false negative, which means that parasites are present in the body, but have not been detected. Such situations occur when the test is performed too early.
Doubts about the interpretation of the test results can be dispelled by talking to a doctor. Thanks to the development of telemedicine, we can now talk to an internist within five minutes via online consultation.
Treatment of the body from the human roundworm
A positive test for the presence of human roundworm eggs is an indication for a medical visit. Treatment should be supervised by a physician who prescribes medications based on the result obtained. The most common treatment is taking by the patient antiparasitic preparations, which result in the death and excretion of roundworms. The most common are:
- pyrantel,
- mebendazole,
- albendazole.
It is recommended to support pharmacological therapy with natural methods. Often, getting rid of human roundworms facilitates the consumption of leeks, garlic and pumpkin seeds, which adversely affect the viability of the roundworms and, consequently, contribute to their excretion. Try, for example, Bear’s garlic, which can be used in the kitchen by adding it to various dishes or even sandwiches. You can also use the healing power of Wormwood Herb.
Appropriate treatment usually eliminates parasites and alleviates symptoms. Personal hygiene should be strictly observed both during and after treatment. In the human glue, apart from the treatment itself, prophylaxis is equally important.
Prevention of ascariasis consists of:
- taking care of everyday personal hygiene,
- scrupulous washing of vegetables and fruits under running water, which are then eaten raw,
- taking care of sanitary hygiene (water and soil in the environment should be protected against roundworms and faeces from entering it),
- proper treatment and disposal of sewage (domestic and municipal),
- thorough treatment of human roundworm and destruction of roundworms excreted during treatment,
- not allowing insects to come into contact with sewage pits and human faeces, because they can very easily transfer the eggs of human roundworm to food products or dishes from which we eat,
- taking care that children do not play in the dirty sandbox.
Prophylactically and supportively in the treatment of pinworm problems, it is worth drinking an infusion prepared on the basis of Worms – a mixture of herbs available at a favorable price on the Medonet Market.
