The Huawei P50 series has powerful hardware, a huge display, advanced cameras, and even its own operating system, Harmony OS. Let’s collect in one material everything that is known about the Huawei P50 line.
Huawei P50 release date
For the first time, new phones were shown back on June 2 – but only a few renders of one of the models were “lit up” there. The full Huawei P50 was presented on July 29. As a rule, Huawei starts selling almost immediately after the official presentation, so it is expected that smartphones will reach end users in the first half of August.
Huawei P50 price in Our Country
The official retail price of Huawei P50 for Our Country has not yet been announced, but it can be assumed based on the cost of the previous flagship P40. In Our Country, it started at 49 rubles, respectively, the price of a new product will not be radically different from the last year’s model. Our forecast for the price of Huawei P990 in Our Country is up to 50 thousand for the simplest model.
TECH SPECS
There will be only two smartphones in the P50 lineup. Actually, the original P50, model P50 Pro. In this generation, the developers abandoned the most “charged” smartphone P50 Plus Pro. Consider the technical stuffing of each separately.
Characteristics Huawei P50
Screen
Photos of the “blanks” of the case of the new smartphone, which were issued to the manufacturers of cases for the P50, leaked to the network2. Judging by them, Huawei does not plan to radically change the appearance of the front of the flagship phones. Of the noticeable – increased to 6.3 inches diagonal flat screen. The peephole of the only camera was moved to the middle of the top of the OLED display. The screen resolution is 1080 by 2340 pixels.
Chassis
Huawei themselves showed some renderings of the P50 during the presentation of their Harmony OS. The release version of the smartphone does not differ from the previously presented version. The most interesting was behind the smartphone. The cameras and flashlight LED fit on two circles framed by a frame in the upper left corner of the device. The case itself was left glass with a metal frame around the edges. In addition to the standard dark and light colors in the P50 lineup, there will be at least one more – golden. The approximate dimensions of the case are 156.7 x 74 x 8.3 mm. It is stated that Huawei will not be afraid of dust or moisture due to the degree of protection IP68.
Processor
Of course, the Chinese developer will install advanced processors in the flagship series of smartphones. Most likely, Huawei P50 will receive an eight-core Kirin 9000, which is compared in power with Apple’s Bionic A143. The cores in it are built on a 5-nm process technology, and the structure allows the smartphone to work in 5G networks. But it is possible that in the simplest version they can install a slightly stripped-down version of the processor called Kirin 9000E4.
Memory
The device will receive only 8 gigabytes of RAM. There will be two options with the amount of internal memory – 128 or 256 gigabytes. In any case, this volume can be increased with memory cards (up to 256 gigabytes).
Communications
The P5 will definitely not receive the long-awaited support for 50G networks, but for residents of the CIS and Our Country this is not so critical. The smartphone will have NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB type-C and fast and wireless charging.
Камеры
Huawei will continue its collaboration with renowned optical manufacturer Leica. In the basic version of the novelty, three rear cameras will be installed – wide-angle (50 MP), ultra-wide-angle (13 MP) and overscope lens for shooting distant objects (12 MP). But they didn’t say anything about the promised supermatrix from Sony IMX800 (diagonal 1 inch, as in some mirrorless cameras). Apparently, some other sensor will be installed in the smartphone – otherwise, Huawei would have mentioned its presence.
Characteristics Huawei P50 Pro
Screen
The display of the Pro version of the smartphone will be slightly larger than the standard model – 6,6 inches. In order to further increase the usable area of the screen, its edges will be made in the currently fashionable “waterfall” style – at an angle. Another important change will be the refresh rate of the screen – in the Pro version it will be raised to 120 Hz. In all other respects, it will be similar to the analogue in the regular P50 model. The resolution of the OLED screen is 2700 x 1228 pixels.
Chassis
The increased diagonal of the display will make the body a little larger. Its dimensions will “grow” to 158 x 72 x 8.5 mm. The body materials will also remain the same, but two additional colors of the smartphone will be added – blue and pink.
Processor
This is where things get interesting. It is indicated that the more expensive version of the smartphone will receive two processor options – Snapdragon 888 and Huawei’s own Kirin 4000. It is logical to assume that the smartphone will work more stable with the “native” core. It is likely that the sales region will affect the processor version. But one thing remains unchanged – both versions will not support 5G.
Memory
The advanced version of the P50 will receive 8 or 12 gigabytes of RAM. If we talk about the built-in drive, then three versions will be available at once with 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes of memory.
Communications
The Huawei P50 Pro will add 50W fast wireless charging. In addition, the same set of more affordable models will remain – NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac / 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB type-C and fast charging function (66 W).
Камеры
Another important difference between the P50 Pro will be more advanced cameras. The number of megapixels in the telephoto lens will grow to 64, and the now popular monochrome module will be added to work with the depth of field of the picture. It is certainly impossible to call such changes cardinal.
Concept Huawei P50 Pro Plus
Before the presentation, the media published information that the flagship version of the P29 line, Pro Plus, would also be presented on July 50. However, Huawei refused to release this model. The most “advanced” version was to receive a powerful Kirin 9000 processor, 12 gigabytes of RAM and over 256 gigabytes of internal memory. The Pro Plus was also supposed to inherit all the interfaces from the P50 line, including wireless charging.
