How we flew on an alcohol excursion to Turkey: what they treat there, what is the price and was it worth it

Someone flies to Turkey to swim in the warm sea and sunbathe. Someone for singed clothes and Turkish delight. And my two colleagues and I decided this time to leave our wives and children at home and relax together.

Test alcohol excursions. What it is, we understood only approximately when we ordered tickets. The brighter were the impressions!

The story was shared by my subscriber Vladislav B.

What are alcohol tours

If I had to write an article for Wikipedia, what are alcohol excursions, then I would write like this:

“An alcohol excursion or alcohol tour is a planned cultural event for those who like to taste (not get drunk to death!) Exotic (that is, not traditional Russian) alcoholic drinks and cocktails, held in groups of 2 to 15 people.

As a rule, they are associated with various cultural events, meetings with interesting people and visits to concerts.

And to put it simply: a couple of enthusiasts gathered, met on the beach in Antalya with a couple of the same enthusiasts, tasted local crayfish together, washed down with whiskey from a dutik to a sincere conversation and went to karaoke to yell Russian chanson. Like that.

How to get on alcohol tours in Turkey

I heard that there are travel agencies that organize purposefully alcoholic trips to the Crimea, Tallinn, Munich during Oktoberfest. Probably in Turkey too. Lekha, Dimych and I flew on our own, which we did not regret at all.

Finding a Russian-speaking guide in Antalya is not a problem at all. But you can organize the program the way you want. For example, we had a cool night safari in a jeep, there was also a tour on a yacht. Everything else – mostly clubs and discos – we planned ourselves.

It’s not us, but they have fun.

Well, we are not history buffs, sorry! The guide gave us an alcoholic tour, usually all local guides are aware of the activities nearby, so they can easily tell you where to go.

And, yes, more offers to fly on an alcohol excursion to Turkey can be found on forums and social networks. Throw a cry – and those who wish will respond.

How much do these tours cost?

How much can you drink? That’s how much they cost. For an overnight stay in a hostel, we paid 10 euros per day with breakfast, for excursions about the same. Drinking here is quite expensive, especially in bars and hotels, so it’s better to bring it with you or pack in a dutik.

Taste the local exotic in the restaurant a little. They say that due to the high cost, there are a lot of self-propelled guns on sale, from which there are a lot of unpleasant consequences.

For reference: alcohol is not prohibited in Turkey, they are sold freely from the age of 18. There is a restriction on the sale of alcohol from 22.00 to 6.00. But this applies only to shops, and in a bar, in a restaurant or at a disco, drink at least pour yourself around the clock.

What you can try on alcoexcursions

I’ll tell you what we tried:

Raki (Crayfish or crayfish) is an aniseed vodka, considered the national Turkish alcoholic drink. Served with water and ice, if you add one or the other to a glass, the transparent anise will turn whitish, like milk.

It is easy to drink, the taste is pleasant, you fly away unnoticed – after all, 45 revolutions! Therefore, it is necessary to drink with meat, as they do here.

This is how crayfish are served, the meat has not been brought to us yet

Emir (Emir) is a light white wine, as we were explained, this is the name of both the grape variety and the local sparkling wine that is made from it.

Gusta (Gusta) – wheat beer of local production. Not impressed, although very cheap, 2 euros per glass. You can find even cheaper.

And here is the wine section of your local supermarket

Sirince (Shirinzhe) – in general, this is a brand of Turkish wines, very popular, but we tried pomegranate. Amazingly tasty, real pomegranate and no chemistry, they took home with them for the ladies. They say there is also melon and date from the same series. Haven’t tried.

Bottom line: all the same, Jamison, bought in duty, and cold Efes (Efes) mostly drank.

Is it worth it to go on alcohol excursions in Turkey?

Definitely yes. Be sure to combine an alcoholic excursion with a gastronomic one. Barbecue with kebabs are excellent here, and they are served in mountains with pita bread and vegetables just everywhere (a serving is about 10-15 bucks).

From myself I recommend to go, as we do, in a private way, and not through an agency – it’s cheaper and more interesting. No one will breed to visit historical sites and fool around with stories about vineyards and goats.

But if you managed to have a good rest in Turkey on a tour, tell us how it was, let’s compare!
