How water affects the skin

Water is life. No living being can do without it. If there is not enough water in the body, the skin reacts first. It becomes dull, dry, lifeless. But is any water useful and how does it affect the skin of the face?

The value of water for the human body

Water is the basis of our life.

Water is necessary for all organs, and the skin is no exception. It is about 70% liquid (the dermis is 90%), and a lack of moisture leads to the most unpleasant consequences.

Water plays a significant role in maintaining the health, beauty, vitality and youth of our body. Here is just a small list of its advantages.

  • Saturates cells and tissues with the necessary moisture.

  • Removes toxins.

  • Improves skin quality, etc.

From lack of water:

  • the skin dries;

  • its relief changes;

  • turgor decreases;

  • wrinkles appear.

Avoiding all these problems is not so difficult. One of the main conditions is to drink enough clean non-carbonated water every day.

The average daily amount of water for a person is calculated by a simple formula: 30 ml of water is multiplied by body weight. For example, with a weight of 55 kg, the required daily volume is 1650 ml of water.

Features of the effect of water on the skin

Water is the basis of daily beauty care.

It is hard to imagine a skin care routine without water, which is the basis of morning and evening cleansing. But tap water is not always of good quality. It is hard, chlorinated, which often causes a feeling of tightness, peeling, irritation.

This water is not good for hair either. From too hard water, they become dull, brittle and lifeless, losing their natural luster.

But despite this, there are more fans of washing with water than those who are used to cleansing the skin in a waterless way – with the help of milk, tonic and wet wipes.

Only water gives an incomparable feeling of purity, cleanses the skin of any impurities, adherents of water purification are sure. The main thing is to choose the necessary assistants. For example:

  • gel;

  • mousse;

  • washing cream.

Benefits of water for skin

Our physical condition directly depends on how much water we drink daily.

Pure drinking water is the main source of youth, health and beauty, which is why it is so important to drink enough of it. And the skin of the face is a reflection of the state of the body as a whole.

What kind of water is good for washing

What is the best water to wash, a matter of personal preference. Experts do not have a single opinion.

Some experts believe that tap water is too hard and aggressive for our skin and suggest using bottled water for this purpose. Others are not so categorical and allow washing with plain water, subject to a competent cleansing protocol:

  1. removing make-up with micellar water;

  2. washing with a gel, foam or mousse, selected according to skin type and existing problems;

  3. toning to restore skin pH;

  4. moisturizing with cream or any other usual moisturizing care.

It allows the use of different types of water. Let’s consider the main ones.

Mineral

Mineral water has a balanced composition and is generally well suited for washing. The only problem is that this procedure can be quite expensive. Just imagine how many bottles of mineral water you need to use per week, given that you need to cleanse your skin twice a day – in the morning and in the evening. Mineral water cleansing can be left in the evening when you prepare your skin for a night’s rest. It is also good to use it before masks and additional care. In the morning, it is quite possible to afford to use ordinary tap water with cleansers that you like.

Thermal

If you have access to hot spring water, washing your face with it is a great idea. But the likelihood of such luck is low. Therefore, it is simply sprayed onto the skin from a can when it is required to soothe the skin and refresh the face, which is especially pleasant in the heat, in the stuffy cabin of an airplane or in the office.

The “correct water” for washing can be not just water, but a cosmetic product. We are talking about a relatively recent discovery of manufacturers – micellar water.

Micellar

Micellar water is a great option for removing make-up and any impurities that build up on your skin throughout the day. It is based on water and micelles – the smallest particles of surfactants needed to cleanse the skin. But after using the micellar composition, experts still advise washing with plain water.
