How to water …
Garden. Garden trees are watered three times per season. As a rule, the third time is after harvesting. It is necessary to wet the soil to a depth of at least 60-80 cm. For young, non-fruiting trees, watering in June and July is sufficient.
Lawn. Watering the lawn should be plentiful, in hot, dry weather every 3-4 days, avoiding the formation of puddles.
Vegetables. Watering vegetables should be regular. If drought and waterlogging alternate, it leads to cracking of cabbage heads, carrots, beets, celery, radishes and tomato fruits. But there are exceptions: onions, garlic, melon and pumpkin are like camels, at first they drink their fill, and at the end, a month before harvesting, they do not need water.
A flower bed. Flowers should be watered very carefully, directing water to the root system, trying to exclude the ingress of water on the buds. A flower garden, illuminated by the sun in the first half of the day, prefers evening watering, and in the second – morning watering. In cloudy weather, the time of day for watering does not matter. Annuals are especially demanding for watering: nasturtium, sweet peas, calendula, lobelia. Cornflowers, verbena, marigolds, alissum, zinnia are less demanding.
Among perennial plants, water is loved by violets, forget-me-nots, daisies, delphinium, clematis, lily of the valley, daylily, hosta. A lack of moisture is immediately reflected in the appearance and flowering of chrysanthemums. For dahlias, watering should be regular, but not very abundant. Gladioli, on the other hand, require abundant but infrequent watering. Gypsophila, poppy, mallow, yarrow, and many cereals tolerate drought well.
Container plants… The plants on the terrace should be watered until the water begins to drain from the pot. If there is no possibility of daily watering of flowers planted in outdoor pots, they must be placed in a tray filled with water and placed in the shade.
