How to wash your hair

Do you want your hair to always look like you just left the salon? Learn to use your shampoo properly! Even if you have a very common product, applying it professionally can significantly improve the condition of your hair. WDay.ru and Ben Skervin know how to ask the right brainwash!

1. Wet hair completely before shampooing. Run your hair under running water for at least a minute. If you have long hair, make sure the back is well damp by separating your hair into strands under running water. The water shouldn’t be too hot or too cold – you should feel comfortable.

2. Squeeze out a small coin-sized amount of shampoo and rub it into your palms. Apply the shampoo to your hair, working from the crown and hairline to the ends. Massage your head gentle circular movements, covering the entire volume of hair.

3. Before rinsing off the shampoo, brush your fingers through your hair from roots to ends to ensure that the shampoo completely covers every inch of your hair. Don’t pull on your hair, just slide your fingers through it.

4. Flushing is even more important than shampooing and should take twice as long. I recommend rinsing off the shampoo in the shower for five minutes. Try it – and after the first time you will always do it! Failure to rinse off the shampoo can result in dull hair and flakes on the scalp caused by remaining and dried shampoo particles.

5. For the brave: rinse your hair with ice cold water at the end for extra shine. Cold water smoothes hair cuticle scales, stimulates blood circulation in the scalp, resulting in improved hair growth and shine.

6. When drying your hair, do not rub your hair too hard with a towel – wet hair is more vulnerable and therefore needs more care. Imagine your hair is made of silk – gently pat it dry and squeeze out the water from the ends before you style your hair as usual.

7. Remember that in summer, not only skin, but also hair needs UV protection. Therefore, use a product with a uv filter for styling. This is exactly what Penelope Cruz does.
