How to wash winter dutik in a washing machine

Do you have questions about caring for winter shoes? This is especially true for those who prefer to wear “dutiks” in winter. Is it possible to wash them in a typewriter or should I refrain from this procedure and clean the boots from dirt by hand? We will consider the rules for caring for this specific winter footwear below.

“Dutiki” – care requirements

“Dutiks” or “puffers” – demi-season or winter shoes with waterproof properties. They are made of technological fabrics, not leather, suede or leatherette. Standard materials for such boots are membrane fabric on the outside and fur on the inside. Boots or boots of an inflated type are comfortable to wear due to the anti-slip soles and wide tops.

Interesting! A rare name for dutik is “moonbut”. If you translate the symbiosis of these English words into Russian, you get “moon rovers”.

The subtleties of care depend on what materials are used in the manufacture of boots. On the etiquette of most dutik there is an icon that prohibits automatic washing. However, this does not stop everyone. This is justified if you have purchased really high-quality shoes. If you have a pair of Chinese-made boots that are poorly glued and made of poor quality fabric, then they are unlikely to endure washing.

Washing rules

Can dutik be washed in a washing machine? We cannot give an unambiguous answer to the question due to a number of circumstances:

  1. Did you get low quality boots? Get ready for them to fall apart.
  2. Are you sure about the quality of gluing and firmware? You can take a chance.

Follow strict rules so as not to ruin your shoes:

  • Sole must first be cleaned of dirt.
  • Pack dutik in a laundry bag and place in the drum of the machine.
  • If the boots are made of a membrane, pour liquid shampoo for washing membrane fabrics into the drum. Or use regular liquid gel for delicate washing if the fabric is simpler.
  • If the boots are winter and filled with down or synthetic filler, use a shampoo for washing ski suits. You will learn more about such products on the page “How to wash a ski suit in a washing machine.”
  • Modes that are suitable: “Delicate wash”, “Manual mode”, “Shoes”, “Down jacket”. The main thing is that the water does not warm up more than 40 degrees.
  • Turn off the spin option in advance.
  • Disable tumble dry if available.
  • Start the mode and wait for the end of the program.
  • Do not take out the boots immediately – let the excess water drain.

Attention! Users complain that dirt is not washed off at low temperature. To improve the quality of washing, wash the stains in advance.

Automatic washing is not suitable for all dutik boots. Read the label: if sheepskin is used as insulation, machine washing will destroy the fur. Have you examined the boots and come to the conclusion that they should not be washed in the machine? Wash by hand: with a brush and a solution of ordinary soap. Soap both boots and shower off the soap suds. Such a wash will be gentle on the soles.

Drying rules

Washing dutik is half the battle. In order for them to retain their appearance and properties, proper drying is necessary. Ordinary “moon rovers” can be dried near a heater or radiator, after tamping paper or towels inside. If the fabric is membrane, such drying will not work – move the boots away from the heat source so that the puffers do not lose their waterproof properties.

After washing, it will not hurt to treat the boots with a water-repellent agent, which can be purchased at a specialized store. Read more about the means in the article “Is it possible to wash the tent in the washing machine.”

Lunar rover boots: a space story

Futuristic style clothes and shoes won the love of the citizens of the Union back in the 80s. It was then that “moon” boots came into fashion. The first Moon Boots were created under the patronage of the Italian entrepreneur Giancarlo Zanatta, who was inspired by Americans walking through the lunar landscapes.

The first puffers were artificial – made of nylon, nylon, rubber, so caring for them was simple. No one bothered with machine washing, and our mothers and grandmothers are unlikely to share life hacks for caring for dutik, since in the 90s boots outlived their usefulness and disappeared from the market. Only from the middle of the “zero” munbuts returned to the store shelves again to win over the buyer. Now they are made from other fabrics, for different purposes and consumers, so the issue of washing has become especially acute.

You already know how to wash dutik. Follow the rules so that this wash is not the last for shoes.
