There are two types of blinds: metal and fabric. Blinds made of metal are the easiest to clean. Simply wipe them with a damp cloth. Cloth models are much more difficult to refresh. Let’s figure out how to wash blinds at home so that their appearance does not suffer.

If you decide to wash the blinds, then you need to remember a few rules:
- in production, the lamellas are treated with a special impregnation. It prevents dust and dirt from settling on the fabric. Too frequent washing leads to leaching of this protective coating, therefore, the blinds should be washed only if they are heavily soiled;
- if the lamellas are made of jacquard fabric, then machine wash is prohibited. Such products can only be washed by hand. Before that, they need to be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner;
- make sure that during washing the water temperature does not rise above 30 degrees. This can lead to deformation of the product;
- if fiberglass was used in the production of blinds, then washing them is strictly prohibited.
These guidelines will help you not to spoil your blinds and effectively clean them of dirt.
How to wash blinds in a washing machine
The easiest way to wash it is in the washing machine. This will not take much time and effort from you, you need to adhere to the following sequence of actions:
- carefully remove the blinds from the window. Be careful not to damage the fasteners. Separate the slats from other products;
- each lamella must be rolled into a small roll. Only in this state will it be possible to place them fearlessly in a typewriter. It is best to put them in a dedicated laundry bag;
- the correct choice of the washing mode is important. Depending on the model of the washing machine, select one of the following modes: “sensitive wash”, “gentle mode”, “thin clothes” or “delicate wash”;
- ordinary powder is not suitable for the treatment of blinds. It is very difficult to rinse it out of the lamella fabric, so you should only choose liquid products. For one set of blinds, you will need one cap of the product;
- spinning and drying is strictly prohibited. Remove the wet lamellas from the machine. Unfold gently and hang from a clothesline. At the same time, it is not recommended to bend the fabric; it is better to use clothespins. Wait until it is completely dry.
As you can see, it is not at all necessary to dry-clean the blinds. They can also be washed at home.
