Simple tips to really help preserve your belongings for years to come.
You don’t have to buy a super-expensive washing machine or fancy cleaning products to improve the quality of your wash. It is enough to adhere to these simple rules, thanks to which the clothes will look much better.
As you spent years sorting through piles of dirty laundry, trying to pick out light and dark, delicate and ordinary items, the professionals just chuckled and kept the secret of the perfect wash to themselves. But we decided to reveal all the secrets, thanks to which you can even love this process. And we are not joking now!
Do not wash clothes if you have worn them just once.
You will be surprised, but professionals advise not to send clothes to the wash every time, but recommend waiting. What? Of course, if a very unpleasant smell comes from your outfits, which is felt at a distance of 10 meters, then the clothes should be urgently put in order. But experts say that shirts, dresses and jeans can be worn more than once before they need cleaning. Also, consider how much water and electricity you can save by running your washing machine less frequently.
Sort clothes differently
Have you also been taught how to sort dirty things by color and material quality? But experts suggest changing the traditional approach and putting clothes in two piles: “bad” and “okay.”
The bad category includes things that have a bad smell, dirty stains, baby clothes, bedding, light-colored underwear, socks and towels. All of these items must be washed as often as possible to avoid the negative effects of microbes on the body.
The second category, respectively, includes those things that you think need cleaning, but look pretty good. These are jeans, pants, shorts, dresses that you’ve only worn a couple of times, and so on. Experts warn that hot water and too much detergent can deform and wear out quickly.
Delicate with delicate things
Lacy underwear, woolen garments and other delicate garments should be washed as gently as possible. For example, if you just throw your bras into the drum of the washing machine, then you risk getting deformed cups with a bunch of folds at the exit, which, for a moment, will stand out under any clothes. You don’t need that kind of effect, do you? Therefore, women’s underwear must be washed in a special bag at low temperatures (it is advisable to do this by hand). And woolen things – in cool water, then gently put on a terry towel (without squeezing hard so as not to spoil the thing) and leave in this form until dry.
