Human anus – what functions does it perform?
The anus is the end of the digestive tract that ends in a ring of strong, circular muscles that make up the anal sphincter. They enable and stop, at our will, stools and fight flatulence. Due to the fact that this is where metabolic products leave the human body, it is worth taking care of the hygiene of this organ.
The abdominal e-packet is for you! It is a set of diagnostic tests for diseases of the digestive system, which allows for early detection of possible abnormalities in the human body.

The anus – how to wash it?
Taking care of anal hygiene is not a complicated task. It is enough to follow a few simple tips to avoid many dangerous diseases.
- The anus should be washed daily with warm water. There is no need to use soaps or moisturizers as they reduce the amount of natural oils produced by the human body. As a consequence, they can lead to dry and itchy skin. So instead, use a water-based cream or a soap-free cleanser.
- Too strong and vigorous use of toilet paper can lead to abrasions and reddening of the skin. This can lead to inflammation or infection.
- Avoid cleaning wipes. There is no medical advantage in cleaning intimate areas with wet wipes over using regular toilet paper.
The direction in which you wash your anus is also important
Contrary to appearances, the very direction of washing is also important. Nursing procedures should be performed from the lower abdomen towards the anus and not the other way around. This is an important rule of thumb as fecal bacteria often inhabit these areas and can cause intimate infections if they move to the vaginal opening and urethral opening. For the same reason, you should use different sponges and towels to wash and dry these parts of the body than for the rest.
The fecal stick is responsible for approx. 90 percent. cases of urinary tract infections. The most common mechanism of infection is the transfer of bacteria from the anus to the opening of the urethra first.
The most common symptoms of this disease include:
- purulent discharge from the urethra;
- pain and burning sensation when urinating;
- itching at the outer opening of the urethra;
- pollakiuria.
Anal itching is one of the most common symptoms of the anus. Itching may be related to the lack of proper hygiene, but also be a symptom of, among others, anal nodules, condylomas acuminata, haemorrhoids, cancer or rectal prolapse.
