How to wash suede sneakers

You cannot do with sneakers as with ordinary shoes, just washing off the dirt with water, suede will not tolerate such treatment. There are several ways to care for such sneakers: remove dirt manually or mechanically by loading it into the washing machine.

Tips for manual cleaning of suede sneakers.

1. Settled dust and small dirt can be perfectly removed with an ordinary eraser or a special rubber brush.

2. Wait until the shoes are completely dry, do not try to remove wet dirt, as you will only increase its area. After drying, the contamination should be treated with a soapy water solution, to which a few drops of ammonia are added. Then gently “ruffle” this area with a piece of sandpaper and walk over it with vinegar diluted with water in a 1: 1 ratio.

3. When an oily sheen or stains appear on sneakers, the defects are covered with talcum powder for several hours. Then you need to walk through these places with a stiff wire brush.

4. Dry the wet suede sneakers in natural conditions, and not near heaters or in open sunlight.

Machine wash for suede shoes is not recommended, it can be used in extreme cases and only if there is no damage to the sneakers, and the sole is completely intact. Washing is carried out only on a delicate mode without drying and spinning, at a temperature not exceeding + 30⁰С. The insoles and laces are washed separately.
