Indoor slippers often wear out faster than any other footwear. Given the peculiarity of the fabric from which they are made, they require a special wash. But not everyone wants to wash slippers by hand when there is a typewriter at home. Therefore, it is worth considering how to wash slippers in a washing machine.
Can you wash slippers in SMA?
The danger of washing slippers in a washing machine is not in their possible damage, but in harm to the equipment itself. Let’s say you decide to wash ordinary Chinese glued slippers. When washing, they are safely unstuck, and the drum is filled with threads, cardboard and other debris. Part of this “good” goes into the filter, clogging it at best, at worst – the pump and drain pipe. And some of the pieces can get into the tank and stick to the walls.
Important! Before washing slippers in CMA, make sure they are of good quality. Washing low-quality slippers is dangerous for the machine itself.
Inspect the shoes: if the sole is glued, not sewn on, or maybe already partially peeled off, it is better to wash it by hand. If the slippers are of high quality, and you are sure that they will not fall apart during washing, you can proceed to the next step.
Tips: how to wash slippers so that they do not deteriorate
It doesn’t matter what slippers you have: terry or felt, the main thing is that they are made to last. After making sure that the shoes are of good quality, you can start preparing indoor shoes for automatic washing. Preparation:
- Examine the shoes again. It should not have detachable elements and protruding threads. If you find flaws, first sew the product.
- Put your shoes in a bag. If there is no special bag at hand, take an old pillowcase.
- Prepare your detergent. In this case, it is better to give preference to liquid gel – it dissolves quickly and rinses out more easily.
- Set aside bleach and conditioner – you won’t need these products.
How to wash indoor slippers so that they do not deteriorate? It’s simple – act strictly according to the scheme:
- Make sure the drum is empty. No other clothes should be in it.
- Put a cover with slippers in a drum.
- Pour the detergent into the powder container.
- Select a mode. If your SMA does not have a “Shoes” mode, press the “Delicate” or “Hand Wash” button.
- Set the temperature to 30 degrees. Maximum – 40, higher is not necessary.
- Cancel the spin function. This is mandatory, otherwise there is a high probability that the slippers will still disperse.
- Start washing.
Only one question remained open: is it possible to dry indoor shoes in the same way as other things? It’s not all that simple, and we have some good advice on this matter:
- For better drying, stuff crumpled white paper inside. The paper will quickly absorb excess moisture and help keep its shape.
- Place your slippers in a warm but ventilated place.
- Do not help dry with a hair dryer.
- Do not place shoes on radiators.
These simple washing and drying rules will help you solve two problems at once:
- Make shoes clean effortlessly and keep them looking good.
- Protect your washing machine from damage.
If you are still not sure about the quality of your home shoes, wash the slippers by hand. The drying rules in this case will be exactly the same.
