How to wash organza in a machine correctly?

Unlike pure silk, this fabric is able to withstand repeated washing in a typewriter, if we are not talking about a prehistoric unit, of course. How to wash organza in a washing machine?

  • Before the procedure, it is advisable to hide the product in a special bag or at least in a pillowcase.
  • It is necessary to set the most gentle mode – “manual” or intended for gentle washing.
  • The water temperature should not exceed 40 degrees.
  • The material also tolerates higher temperatures, but as they increase, its deformability increases.
  • It turns out that the hotter the water is during washing, the more the organza will wrinkle.
  • It is advisable to refuse spinning and drain the water from the drum at the end of the procedure.

If such a function is not provided in the machine, you need to set the lowest number of revolutions (up to 400).

How to hand wash organza?

Hand cleaning is better for sensitive fabrics, so this should be preferred whenever possible. If heavy dirt is noticeable on the canvas, it can be soaked in warm soapy water for an hour and only after that start washing.

  • It is recommended to gently squeeze the fabric, as if sculpting a ball of snow.
  • Then the cloth must be rinsed in warm water until the detergent is completely removed along with the dirt.
  • This is not difficult to do, since the structure of the fabric easily part with both stains and excess moisture.

How to wash organza: the choice of detergents

For organza products, it is recommended to buy separate products suitable for silk and delicate fabrics:

  1. They should not contain bleaches, stain removers and abrasives that damage delicate fibers.
  2. It is recommended to give preference to liquid powders and gels, which are very gentle, but at the same time remove dirt as well as dry products.
  3. Do not add rinse aid or fabric softener at the end of the wash cycle.

The fact is that they are poorly washed out and, upon contact with the sun’s rays, leave yellowed spots on the canvas. This recommendation is especially relevant for tulle and curtains.
