How to wash off scale with citric acid, vinegar
Noticing a yellowish coating on the inner surfaces of the teapot, you should think about how to wash off the scale. Timely removal of limescale deposits will increase the life of the product. If you do not want to use special drugs, use folk remedies.
To clean an electric or ordinary kettle, pour 100 g of citric acid inside. Fill a container with water and bring to a boil. Cooling down, the solution will interact with scale, making its structure loose. After a few hours, the remaining deposits will be easily cleaned from the surfaces.
How to remove limescale with citric acid?
Important! If you cannot achieve the desired result, repeat the procedure one or more times.
You can replace citric acid with fresh lemons. To do this, chop 2-3 fruits without peeling the peel, pour into a kettle, boil and leave for several hours or overnight.
How to clean limescale with vinegar?
To clean a teapot with a volume of about two liters, you need to pour two glasses of vinegar (6%) into it and add water so that the container is as full as possible. Bring the solution to a boil and leave overnight to break down the scale structure.
Important! The procedure should be carried out with the window open, as the vinegar smell will increase during boiling.
If the limescale layer is too dense, before using the vinegar, fill the kettle with a solution of 100 g of baking soda and water, boil and pour. The vinegar will react with the alkali and speed up the process of breaking down deposits.
What else can you wash off the scale?
To remove limescale deposits, you can use the following products:
- carbonated drink: Pour lemonade into a kettle, wait for the gas to stop and bring the liquid to a boil. To clean a white electric kettle, choose a transparent soda, otherwise you will additionally have to get rid of food coloring residues;
- cleaning from apples or pears – this method is suitable for removing a weak white coating. Pour the peelings into a container and boil. Clean the remains of limescale with a sponge;
- soda is a great option for enamel or aluminum cookware, which is afraid of exposure to corrosive acids. Pour a tablespoon of baking soda or soda ash into a container, pour half a liter of water and bring the solution to a boil.
Choose a suitable method and carry out the procedure monthly, this will keep the kettle in top condition.
