It is recommended to wash newly laid linoleum only after 2 weeks. Before that, clean the room with a vacuum cleaner. In the future, make a warm soapy solution, and then, using a rag, wipe the floors with it. To give shine, linoleum is processed:
- milk mixed with water – this composition is suitable for old flooring, which will look well-groomed;
- water with table vinegar – this option should be used to wash the dining room, because it is used more often than others;
- detergent – it should not contain abrasives, alkalis or ammonia, which impart fragility to linoleum;
- special napkins – in this case, dry cleaning of the floor covering from household dust accumulated there is carried out.
Some people, after washing the floor, rub it with a woolen cloth dipped in vegetable oil or linseed oil, and then polish it to a shine with a piece of silk cloth.
How to wash linoleum: cleaning stains

- Stains of coffee, iodine, felt-tip pens are removed with the help of gasoline, kerosene or turpentine, which first drip onto a rag.
- Mold and rust stains are wiped off with a mixture of bleach and plenty of water, and fresh lemon juice is sometimes used.
- Greasy and oily stains are removed from the linoleum with paper towels, and then washed with a soap solution.
- Spilled wax is gently pryed off with a scraper, the stain is treated with gasoline from a hardware store and the floor is washed.
