We were recently asked a question: how to wash clothes in a washing machine? We decided to write a separate article on this topic, since proper washing is the key to the long life of your equipment.
There are also questions about how often you can wash things in the machine. We answer: it depends on how much laundry accumulates. Someone includes SMA every day, others – several times a day. It is optimal to use the washer several times a week, but running the wash once a month is not an option – the equipment must be used so that the parts do not dry out in it.
Laundry sorting
Washing in an automatic machine requires sorting linen. Divide things into several piles.
If you plan to wash multi-colored items, divide the laundry by color. You also need to separate the linen by type of fabric. Pay special attention to things with strong pollution – they need to be further processed.
Recommendation! Install a ventilated basket in the bathroom. This will prevent stubborn stains from dampness.
Prepare
Before you wash clothes, you need to prepare them. For example, when washing bedding, you should turn the pillowcases inside out.
Also, washing clothes should begin with checking pockets – take out everything you find. Fasten all fasteners, tie shoelaces. When washing shirts, the sleeves should be carefully straightened. Turn pants and jeans inside out.
Removing tough stains
Soak stained clothes in a bowl of warm water and add stain remover. Scrub the slightly soiled area and send the clothes to the washer.
If you have a question about how to wash very dirty laundry, then soak it in water for a few minutes. Add a stain remover, rub lightly, rinse and send to the machine. Additionally, it is recommended to add a little stain remover to the powder container.

We will answer the question: what can be washed with what and loaded into the drum. When thinking about what things can be washed together, you should take into account not only the color and type of fabric, but also the size (volume).
Small things with small things, large things with large ones – this measure will save the drum from possible imbalance.
Important! Do not wash small and bulky items at the same time. This can cause the machine to become unbalanced.
Program
We suggest following general washing recommendations:
- Wash light-coloured cottons and linens at 95°. The spin speed can be set to maximum.
- Before washing colored cotton items, select a temperature of 60 degrees. Spin speed is maximum.
- Washing clothes made of synthetics – no more than 50 °. Spin speed – 800-900 rpm.
- Wool and silk require a 40-degree temperature and a spin of no more than 600 rpm. But experts advise not to use the spin cycle before washing woolen or silk items in an automatic machine. This way things will keep their shape.
- Many models do not have a separate program for clothes prone to staining. Just wash in cold water – no more than 30°. Not sure which colors can be washed together? It is better not to take risks and send white clothes with white, black underwear with black clothes, red with red and so on into the drum.
If white linen is to be washed, then for such a bed set it is allowed to use products with bleaches. But it is also recommended to add “soft” detergents to the powder receiver.
Shoe washing
Do you want to know how to wash your shoes efficiently and effectively, removing dirt from them and without damaging a pair of your favorite shoes? Follow the rules below:
- Do not wash leather shoes in CMA – they will lose their shape and become unwearable.
- Do not machine wash dyed shoes. If there are glued elements on the shoes, then most likely they will fall off during washing.
- Remove dirt from the sole – wash it by washing off the dirt with a cloth, or use a special brush for cleaning. Neglecting this item threatens that pebbles and pieces of dirt will fall into the washer filter, and this will end in serious damage or blockage.
- Choose a low temperature mode, 30 degrees maximum.
- Remove insoles and laces (if any), wash them separately or by hand.
- Dry by stuffing tightly with white paper. Do not use newspapers or magazines if you do not want to read from the insoles later – the letters can be transferred to the fabric.
Important! Do not wash 2-3 pairs of shoes together. Heavy boots can damage the sunroof glass.
Tricks
The washing process will become easier with these tips:
- Before sending things to the drum, wipe it and the rubber seal with a rag, removing any remaining dirt and moisture.
- Make sure that the thing does not shed: moisten the edge in warm water and wait for the reaction. If the water is not stained, then the clothes can be sent to the washer. But with white things still do not take risks.
- Leave free space in the drum – this affects the quality of the wash. The more spacious, the better the process.
- When washing outerwear, fasten zippers and buttons.
- Remember to check the pockets so that small objects do not damage the inside of the drum.
- Use a laundry bag or an old pillowcase when washing shoes. This will protect the machine from damage, and shoes from losing shape.
There is no need to talk much about how to properly wash clothes in a washing machine. Prepare carefully for the washing process, do not forget to sort clothes by color and type of fabric.
