How to wash clothes correctly and often

Clothes get dirty all the time, and not only when we wear them. Even if it lies in the closet for a long time, dust particles settle on it, so unused items also need to be regularly freshened. Knowing a few nuances about how to properly wash clothes will greatly simplify this routine.

How to wash clothes: preparatory stage

Before starting washing, things must be prepared. For this, all contents are removed from the pockets. Clothes in need of repair must be repaired prior to washing. It is important to fasten the zippers and unfasten the buttons before sending things to the washing machine. Failure to do this could damage your clothes.

Sort your clothes before washing.

Clothes can be washed in the washing machine or by hand. In any case, it is important to learn how to sort things. For this you need:

  1. Divide the dirty laundry by color into 3 groups: dark, light and white. If the fabric fades, it is better to put the garment aside, otherwise the rest of the garment may stain.
  2. Wool and silk can be washed together, but they are incompatible with cotton or linen, and synthetics do not get along well with clothes made from natural fibers. These fabrics require different temperature conditions.
  3. Very dirty clothes cannot be washed with cleaner ones. The first step is to soak and apply a stain remover.

It is important to take into account the information on the composition of the items and the care required for them, contained on the tags and labels. Then the process of caring for clothes will be simple and after it there will be no need to rewash something.

How often should clothes be washed

Any items should be washed as they become dirty. After all, a person sweats, as a result of which an unpleasant odor appears. Therefore, different clothes require different washing frequencies:

  • underwear is refreshed every day;
  • everyday clothes are washed every 2 days, and festive clothes are washed after each putting on;
  • home clothes are changed daily, every other day, or every 3-4 days. It depends on how much the person sweats. Street clothes are washed at least once a week.

Toilet items that are not in contact with sweat glands can be washed less often. However, this does not mean that they can be worn for several months without cleaning. For example, it is recommended to refresh outerwear at least once every 2-3 weeks.

A person’s clothes are judged on his neatness. Therefore, it is very important to regularly clean your belongings. If you use simple rules, then washing will not take long, and the clothes will always be clean.
